Rather Blather from the Chron

The fetid amusement of killing Dan Rather ends tonight. . . . There's no pride in watching the deconstruction of a man. . . .
And you can take your CBS backstabbers who found in Rather's last hours of weakness a chance to rise up and join the chorus of haters -- becoming smaller themselves as the time of his career suicide drew near -- . . . And yes, that includes Walter Cronkite.
Take them all away. Anybody who found joy in this deserves to rot in their own mean-spiritedness.
. . .
From the tut-tut tone of Wolf Blitzer to the transparent hate of RatherBiased.com, the people seemed to want blood, and they got it.
. . .
Much as been written about Rather, including Ken Auletta's recent piece in the New Yorker. But the summation is always the same -- he's an odd bird whom nobody really knows, . . . So this is how it ends? We've turned Dan Rather, one third of the Iconic Anchor Trio, into Willy Loman? You can loathe Rather all you want. . . . But how anyone can fail to see him as Willy Loman now is just beyond imagination.
. . .
Maybe Willy Loman is too old school. Maybe he's the Jack Nicholson character in "About Schmidt." . . .
It's easy to tear down Rather right now. In the last few months it's become a blood sport. He's the ultimate Straw Man victim.

Tim just can't let it go. Rath did this to himself. He's fortunate that certain Texans don't have what are called, cajones, to prosecute Rather and Mapes, and Josh, and the rest for perpetrating a felony in TX. He's fortunate that a similar lack of will is found in the Bush Justice Dept., which conceivably has almost an obligation to bring this crew up on federal charges. Willy Loman didn't try to fix a Presidential election. And the only metaphorical 'blood sport' was that of the LM (LWM, if you like) during that same election, with Rather and his crew taking it upon themselves to briefly lead the charge, as they thought to get BOOOSH - he being the real criminal!, as they (and Saddam) believed. The only one trying to tear down anyone was Rather and his unholy crew, who sought to calumniate President Bush in order to get someone who could not rise on the merits, namely Kerry, elected. And they sought to tear down Bush by an obvious fraud, at that; one recognized within hours so that those, themselves, who had been pursuing this particular issue for years could simply NOT have been duped by those documents. When they saw them, they had to know they were the most ridiculous sort of fakes, obviously cobbled together with a sort of DU-conspiracy background, on what appeared to be the default settings of Microsoft Word - the same program found on the rental computers at any Kinko's.

Yep. It's interesting that smearing a sitting President six weeks before the election in front of the entire nation (based on forged documents) is a simple "mistake" that should be (presumably) forgiven. Of course, after two decades of service to liberalism, Dan Rather deserves some goodwill from his fellow travelers. However, it's also interesting that whenever Dan and CBS makes a "Mistake" it is always to the detriment of Republicans...and forgivable.
This is a requiem for the Liberal Media, and as such, the tone is eminently appropriate.
The King is dead.

As one FReeper said recently: Good riddance to this lying, treasonous, pompous, pretentious, flatulent gas bag.

"And yes, that includes Walter Cronkite. " Hell, Cronkite was always a backstabbing, lying, anti-American Socialist...
The myth about him being the "Most Trusted Man in America"....should have been destroyed when his lies about the Vietnam war became common knowledge...
He and Kerry made strange bedfellows...
Lots of folks are awaiting a session with Cronkite in Hell.

Nixson was a saint compared to Dan Rather, and besides Nixon's brother could make the best patty melts that you ever put in your mouth.

This writer is a weeping, clueless idiot, which explains why he tries to draw shallow parallels from fictional characters-- Willy Loman, Schmidt--what BS. Rather is a creation of his own ego, and his downfall is not tragic and not epic. He's just another crumbling brick in the wall.
We built a new wall.

Anybody who found joy in this deserves to rot in their own mean-spiritedness I found much joy in this (rot rot).
I read a book once by a former SEAL in which he discussed car bombers (in Beirut, if memory serves). He mentioned that, at that time, many of the cars fitted with these bombs were also fitted with radio controlled detonators in case the driver chickened out at the last moment. The author and his guys figured out the frequency these detonators operated on and spent some time driving around town prematurely detonating the terrorists' handiwork.
Terrorists dying by their own bombs (assuming no good guys get hurt) also amuses me.
Rather brought this on himself. Losing an anchor job - pffft! He ought to be in prison.
