In an unprecedented open letter to the ruling clerical leaders, more than five hundred Iranian scholars, intellectuals, journalists, students, artists and politicians have denounced the "incompetence" of the present clerical-led leadership and warned that only bowing to the principles of a real democracy can save the country and nation from total collapse.
Observers say this is the first time that so many dissidents of all categories have joined in writing such a letter, produced on the occasion of the forthcoming presidential elections, due next June.
The signatories, most of them well known activists, have dressed a black picture of the regime's achievements in the past 25 years, reaching the conclusion that the record of the "appointed and selected officials" in charge of the nation is "negative" in all political, economic, cultural and social fields "to the point that the nation's independence, unity, coexistence and future are in serious danger".
Based on some official statistics, the signatories also hints at the "critical conditions and situation" of the nation, particularly in political, economic, cultural and social fields to conclude that the establishment has been "both incapable and impotent" in the defining, recognising and defending" Iran's national interests in face of threats coming from outside.
The Office for the Consolidation of Unity (OCU), the Iranian students largest organisation, the Popular Front, the Iranian People Party (IPP) of the late Dariush Forouhar, the Iranian National Party (INP), some nationalist-religious movements as well as hundreds of well-known personalities have signed the petition.
"The publication of the petition shows that the rulers have failed in their attempt at discouraging the people by propagating the wrong image that the dissidents and activists have deserted the political arena", said Mr. Keshtgar, adding that the letter shows that contrary to the ruler's expectations, the Iranian, more than ever before, are determined to go ahead with their long struggle for freedom and democracy".

Somebody has seen thos inkstained voters just across the border and has taken heart and is putting ever more pressure on the mad mullahs.
I blame Dubya for this. Heh heh...
What's an ambyss?
Ambyss - Female Albatross.
The elections are in June. I wonder if the mad mullahs are going to stop people from running again? Staying away from the polls just allows the bad guys to get elected, maybe the people should go and write in the names of the candidates they really want.
The elections are in June. I wonder if the mad mullahs are going to stop people from running again?
It wouldn't suprise me.
There has been repeated offers made from united Iranian factions to give mullahs amnesty if they step aside. Its not in the nature of these fundamentalist vampires to do so. They dont consider themselves guests. And with the shrinking world of victims, they have nowhere to go but to get wiped out. Something big will happen in June, hopefully, peacefully.
As Rafsanjani once said
"Mah neyoomadem enja khe basyeh mehmooneh, mah omadem khe beboonem.'
We didn't come here for dinner or get-together, we came to stay.
The Mullahs do not care what names people write on the papers.
They want to tell the world, look, we get 30 milion voters so we are a democracy! (which they are not).
So, people of Iran should stop participating the sham elections under the rule of the Mullahs.
Mullahs' saying: (in Persian):
'age ye yek gherooni ro be molla dadi, dige nemituni azash begiri. hala chetori mikhay hokumat ro azash begiri?'
Translation:
"It is impossible to get back a penny from a Mullah if you give it to him. Now how do you want to get the government back from them?"
People wouldn't vote if their job didn't depend on it.
Yeah, I know!
Since 1979 the Iranian public & her vast supplies of crude oil have been held hostage to 7th century Islamic fanatics which have unitized the nation's number one exportable natural resource to spread its own brand of jihadic terrorism around the globe.
Ofcourse there is the render unto ceasar thought here.
Isn't it amazing how these mullah's think keeping the population in poverty, spending the national wealth on nuclear bombs, and sending the money out of the country to the likes of arafat (with swiss accts) is acceptable. When the Iranian people finally stand up and demand the mullahs step down and take over their country these maniacs will continue to squander the national treasure.
Bump!
This GWs legacy of the US president who set the Middle East free is already a reality. Lets pray for the forces of change to work in peace and finish the job without war in Iran as it is happening so far in Lebanon.
lol
things do not work here as it may work there.
it is a different world.
Ah, forgot to say that Iran is not an Arabic country!
