Once again, busloads of leftist activists will descend upon Fayetteville, NC in an attempt to demoralize the will of our American troops by targetting their loved ones with antiwar drivel.
The choice of Fayetteville, NC, as a focal point of their propaganda campaign, is due to the fact that it is the home of Ft. Bragg (and the 82nd Airborne) as well as the Pope Airforce Base. The leftists will march with socialist banners and bring out an array of speakers decrying the war and advocating every variety of left-wing topic from Marxism and socialism to special "rights" for homosexuals to secularism to pro-Hezbollah Palestinianism. (Seriously - last year they all were really there!)
The unifying factor of all of these groups is anti-Americanism utilizing continued propaganda themes of "Bush lied" and "No blood for oil". The mob will also import a number of speakers who have allegedly lost loved ones in Iraq, and will create some sort of symbolic display reflecting the number of dead. (They have used pairs of boots and black umbrellas in the past.) They will (undoubtedly through an unintentional oversight) neglect to display any symbolism reflecting the number of Americans killed in the WTC, or Iraqis killed by Saddam or Women beaten by the Taliban, or the number of Afghanis and Iraquis and Palestinians and Ukrainians and (soon) Egyptians who now have the ability to vote.
Last year, FReepers countered the leftwing protests with the added participation of Rolling Thunder, Protest Warriors, Vets and other patriotic Americans. This year, we'll do it again! We had lots of press coverage, and totally deflated the left's bubble. Families of our troops loved the fact that we were there!
Please join FReepers from Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and DC in Fayetteville this year as once again we provide aid and comfort to American troops!

The Rolling Thunder site just says that they will be taking donations for POW/MIA ribbons on Ft. Bragg. It doesn't say where on Bragg. My guess would be the commisaries and the PXs. There is a link to their site that you can cut and paste below.

I used to turn on Gruber to cut over to All American but there's no Gruber Rd access from Bragg Blvd any more... straight across only. Where would I turn off Bragg Blvd (or Murchison) to go through the checkpoints and get to the PX?
I still don't have a clue to meet everyone else on 3/19.
Bump to let you know we're finally getting that Channel 14 interview in the morning!
We're making BIG signs to direct people to our "Support the troops" event.
We will be at ROWAN PARK off of HAY ST and WOODSIDE, in downtown Fayetteville. You will get a Freepmail on Wednesday with specifics.
Where is everyone staying? We just maybe can make this!
Can you add me to the FReepmail list? This is looking more do-able on our end. I would LOVE to see everyone too!
Ahhhh, but will those BIG signs be legal??
(Just kiddin' around...)
You have freepmail...
BTTT !! And break a leg!
Ping for anyone you know in NC.
I'm a little confused about the venue......
Is there a parade or is the location the park where it was last year , or both?
We will all meet at the grass strip across from Rowan Park, on Woodside, at 10:30 am.
The location will be well marked.
Hmmm, sounds like I'll need to bring the EXTRA-Strength pesticide for this one. Do ya think a 55-gallon drum of alien urine will be sufficient?
Sorta sounds like the start of a reunion tour. Yup. A shout out to my "homies" FReeping in TX.
You can get to the north PX by going to either Randolph St or Butner Rd. If you turn at Butner Rd, you can see the PX off to your forward left. Go through the checkpoint and turn left at the next light. The PX will be on your right. If you turn at Randolph St., go to the next light and turn right. Stay on this road. The PX will be on your left.
For directions, Freep mail me and tell me where you are coming from so that I will know which way to tell you to come in to town.
Last year, signs of any real size were prohibited; we even had to cut some in half and have two people hold them. The lefties, of course, didn't abide by the size restrictions.
Although we were legally precluded from using it along the lefty parade route, we were able to use the MOAB at our final gathering spot at the park.
