Just curious, how many of you guys where there? Did Protest Warriors participate? Good strategy to spread yourselves out.

I saw dozens mouthing the words "purple revolution" (proof of a solid public school education--having to read while moving one's lips!).

This is about the funniest thing I have heard all month. ROFLMAO!!!

"We have statues, monuments etc. to commemorate such as General Grant, George Washington, Lincoln yet how about the lesser giants among us, those who in less-famous ways show backbone, courage, leadership, integrity, patriotism, CHARACTER."

The stars are so important that they get the sidewalk instead of statues so they can be walked on!

It appears that we DID make the Associated Press, from story.news.yahoo.com:

You can see is the REST of that sign in the AP photo in THIS closeup from Hi Heels,:

The FULL TEXT of message on that LARGE sign [held here by a "not-yet-FReeper" named Ray] was:

...and the winner is
a free Iraq!

Offering to help any way, RonDog put me on the front lines of the action.

Literally. I was handed a 4' x 8' mini-billboard of the Citizens United signs.
Very Cool...

Very cool indeed, Blurblogger!
Thank YOU for accepting your mission, and executing it flawlessly!
One of the PRIMARY objectives of this FReep was getting a MASSIVE (four foot by eight foot) full color version of the classic billboard by Citizens United:

from
www.citizensunited.org

...in a "front and center" position -- DIRECTLY ACROSS from the Red Carpet arrival area.

We were EXTRAORDINARILY successful in executing that objective. :o)
They say that "success has many fathers" -- and yesterday's TREMENDOUS victory was the result of the extraordinary efforts of MANY people...
...but NONE of it would have been possible without that 4' x 8' sign created by DoughtyOne.

It took considerable planning, and the resolution of many almost insurmountable obstacles -- which [in addition to the diligence of Blurblogger] required the intervention of a retired LAPD oficer, and a Captain in the U.S. Army [Special Forces], just back YESTERDAY from his second tour in Iraq --
-- plus the quick thinking of the irrepressible Genevieve, and some giant of a man (who is in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen) whom she recruited from the "front lines" --
-- but we got DoughtyOne's marvelous creation "front and center" for the WHOLE DAY - from 10 am to 5 pm.
NO ONE arriving at the Red Carpet area could avoid seeing it. :o)
Not sure yet how much (mainstream) MEDIA coverage we got, but OUR video guy says that he captured an AMAZING image from across the street -- with that "Thank You, Hollywood!" sign in the foreground, and the Oscar billboard over the Kodak billboard in the background.
THAT image is going on my homepage -- as soon as Jeffers posts it - later this week.
More later, but to ALL who worked to make this event such a rewarding victory:
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

.....how little a contribution most of those "Stars" actually make. Sure, they might make us laugh or cry or think--using somebody else's words and thoughts. Yet is that reason for the level of worship these narcissists among us warrant? ........

Diagnostic criteria for 301.81---Narcissistic Personality Disorder (Hollyweird version, also applies to liberals in general)

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

(1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

(2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

(3) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

(4) requires excessive admiration

(5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

(6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

(7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

(8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

(9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes.

Man what a great sign.

And where everyone had to see it?

Indeed. :o)

It will take a while before we have OUR pictures of "Thank you, Hollywood" sign that "front and center" position...

...but we have been at this location on numerous PREVIOUS occasions, like THIS one:

Note that the "Thank God it's W" annd "QUESTION A.N.S.W.E.R." banners from THIS FReep...
... which can be CLEARLY seen from across the street, where the limos arrived yesterday...
...were only three feet high...
...while DoughtyOne's wonderful sign was FOUR FEET HIGH!
(And there was NO ONE blocking our sign yesterday, as the police officers on bicycles are in THIS image.)

Someday, an enterprising groups of people will get together. One will write the screen play, and others will produce and direct, and still others will hire the actors. They will produce a sweeping and inspiring human drama series of movies. They will revolve around several families, having ties in Iraq and Afghanistan. There will have brutal Talibans who destroyed businesses and kidnapped family members. There will be family members who survived the destruction of property on Iraq, with some staying and suffering brutal imprisonment, and some fleeing into exile. The movie will culminate into fantastic scenes of ordinary people risking their lives to vote for the FIRST time in THOUSANDS OF YEARS!

Yes, it will be based on a trues story of vision and freedom! But - Hollywood is NOT yet ready to make such a movie.

I'm a new poster, but was a part of Freeping the Academy Awards and Hollywood yesterday. That hot shower felt good on my aching back last night after after holding a sign, or the purple finger all day. I slept like a log. I have some photos, but have no idea how to post them so I'll try to figure it out. Suggestions are welcome.

"Is the black gentlemen in the Uncle Sam suit a FReeper? He looks familiar,"

That is Ted Hayes. He has for some 20 odd years been in the media for being an advocate for the homeless here in LA. I first saw him in 1993 where he was involved with the "Dome Village" in downtown(he is still involved BTW).

Was surprised to see him with us 2 years ago when we FReeped he Oscars and did not get a chance to really meet him and talk.

Much different this year. I met him when we met Thursday night to make signs for this FReep and we got to know each other better. I really like this man as he has seen clear to the conservative POV. He has a lot of creative ability, is charismatic, DEPENDABLE and energetic.

His people skills are awesome(you should have seen how beautifully he handled the "traffic jam" that existed on our corner!)with irate wheelchair bound protesters, to fellow black people that at first thought he looked out of place with our "conservative" rally, to gangster types, to cute little kids, and to anyone that didn't understand the purple finger.

Oh, and he sings quite well too. Shoulda heard him lead "God Bless America" and "America the Beautiful" and "The Star Spangled Banner" along with"Yankee Doodle Dandy". This guy is my age, so "American Idol" is not an option. Too bad.

Anyway, he has some new ideas about bringing the black community around to realizing that the liberals(especially the liberal black PREACHER leaders)are not helping them, and that conservatives are the only ones that have EVER helped the black community. He is teaching the foundation of the Republican Party as the party that fought and eliminated slavery in the U.S. I will be communicating at length with him about the ideas he has for truly bringing a revolution of conscientiousness to South LA.

To: rantblogger; cake_crumb; fight_truth_decay; RottiBiz; usmc_chris; auboy; GeorgiaYankee; ...

President George W Bush is the Freedom President. Once again the Republican Party drags the Liberals kicking and screaming like spoiled brats, blindly into the 21st century. George Bush is a visionary that sees the World as it can be, not as it is. He is the eternal optimist as well an eternal soldier. Never before have we had a leader who can visualize the power of people’s hunger for Freedom in the oppressed spirit, smoldering like a glowing ember in a wheatfield. Whether it is in a village in Afghanistan, a town in Iraq or facing a tank in Tiananmen Square the human spirit longs to feel the warm embrace of Lady Liberty.

W has blown the cool breath of Freedom onto the embers of Democracy on Iraqi People who are in their infancy of self rule. Just as a toddler begins crawling and then reaching up to learn to walk before becoming an adult, we are witnessing that child nation take his first step. As our infant begins to walk in a room full of dangers, we can take pride in every step of that journey. There has been falls, cuts, bumps and bruises to get to the first step and there will be pitfalls along the way, but we and especially our Troops, should take great relief in the Freedom and hope for Iraq.

The fire is beginning to spread as the hope and hunger of the human spirit is being ignited. The oppression of the Middle East was not as severe or overt as was seen in Communist Russia or China with the physical presence of The Wall, since Saddamn’s wall was mental. They could come and go as they pleased if they had enough money or were connected, but their oppressors could snatch them off the street to be raped or tortured at any given moment. Now they are free to speak or write as they please and vote for their leaders. These flames are warming hearts and minds while pushing back the deep black darkness.

Over the next couple of years we will see a Government formed and a Leader chosen to lead the Iraqi people out of their darkness. We will see them taking ownership of their Country and their own personal Freedom. As they begin to understand that the oppression is behind them they will be taking their torches to the darkest corners of their Country. These flames will expose the terrorists from their hiding places and bring them to justice. The Wildfire will engulf the terrorist hidden in the brush to expose him as a hinderance to Freedom Worldwide. The average Iraqi as we saw on January 30th does not want to see his child blown up, rather has a heart that hopes for a new sunrise.

We are seeing sparks spreading across the tinderbox of Persia. Of all people, the PLO and Hezbola have seen the light as well as the peoples of Saudia Arabia, Egypt and Lebonan. While these fires begin to burn bright in Beruit we will see the sparks ignite into flames in these Countries as well as Iran and move around the World to the slave fields of China, Cuba and Korea. Once people understand that Freedom can happen in Countries like Russia, Afghanastan and Iraq, they will realize that Dictators are actually Sand Castles standing against an Ocean. They cannot quench the thirst for Freedom with threats or terror any longer.

President Bush has become one of the Great Visionaries of history. Just as the invisible hand of Capitalism is the most efficient form of economics, so too is the invisible hand of Freedom and Democracy. This hand will expose and capture the Terrorists around the World great and small. People will throw off their shackles of fear and follow the model of Afghanastan and Iraq to fan the white hot flames of Liberty. As America and her friends fuel these flames, millions will be freed from their oppression and take back ownership of their lands. As this Wildfire spreads throughout the World, despots cower in fear as they wait for their ultimate demise at the hands of God’s servant leader, the Freedom President George W Bush.

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighting Troops

Many come out to show war support across land
Monday, March 24, 2003
By Karen Matthews, The Associated Press
NEW YORK -- A day after massive anti-war rallies attracted thousands across the nation -- including more than 100,000 people in a march down Broadway -- hundreds of people gathered in Times Square and other cities yesterday to show support for the war in Iraq.
Demonstrators including Daniel Flores of San Jose, Calif., center in black shirt, and Vietman veteran Ronnie Guyer of Chino, Calif., center in yellow jacket, chant in support of the United States military on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue yesterday in Los Angeles. The rally was about a half a block from the 75th annual Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre.(Reed Saxon, Associated Press)
About 600 people waved American flags and chanted "U-S-A! "U-S-A!" at the Times Square demonstration.
"Thank God we have a president who is a real global leader, protecting our liberty and security, relentless in his pursuit of justice and not bending to the appeasers," said Republican activist Michael Benjamin, who is considering a run for U.S. Senate against Charles Schumer in 2004.
"The entire world community has said time and again that Saddam Hussein is a danger and that he must be disarmed," said former Jersey City Mayor Bret Schundler. "But it is the United States and the coalition of the willing which has finally been willing to stand up and say, 'What must be done, let it be done now.' "
On Saturday, a throng 30 city blocks long had marched down Broadway to oppose the war. Organizers put the crowd at 250,000; police said it was 125,000 strong. Police said 91 people were arrested, and 16 officers were hospitalized after they were sprayed with an unknown substance.
Near Richmond, Va., yesterday, police said more than 5,000 people showed up to show their support for the war -- something veterans Terry Steer said they could have used during Vietnam.
"I'm here to support the troops because I know what it was like when people didn't," said Steer, 55, who fought during the 1968 Tet Offensive with the 1st Air Calvary Division of the Army. "That can't happen again."
In Washington, about 300 activists turned out for a pro-military rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, waving signs saying "God bless our troops" and "Freedom is not free." Republican Congressman Steve King of Iowa said all Americans -- even the ones opposing the war -- need to stand behind the troops now that the war is underway, and that some protesters have been displaying "un-American values."
