Offering to help any way, RonDog put me on the front lines of the action.Very cool indeed, Blurblogger!Literally. I was handed a 4' x 8' mini-billboard of the Citizens United signs.
Very Cool...
Thank YOU for accepting your mission, and executing it flawlessly!One of the PRIMARY objectives of this FReep was getting a MASSIVE (four foot by eight foot) full color version of the classic billboard by Citizens United:
...in a "front and center" position -- DIRECTLY ACROSS from the Red Carpet arrival area.
We were EXTRAORDINARILY successful in executing that objective. :o)They say that "success has many fathers" -- and yesterday's TREMENDOUS victory was the result of the extraordinary efforts of MANY people...
-- plus the quick thinking of the irrepressible Genevieve, and some giant of a man (who is in the process of becoming a U.S. citizen) whom she recruited from the "front lines" ---- but we got DoughtyOne's marvelous creation "front and center" for the WHOLE DAY - from 10 am to 5 pm.
NO ONE arriving at the Red Carpet area could avoid seeing it. :o)Not sure yet how much (mainstream) MEDIA coverage we got, but OUR video guy says that he captured an AMAZING image from across the street -- with that "Thank You, Hollywood!" sign in the foreground, and the Oscar billboard over the Kodak billboard in the background.
THAT image is going on my homepage -- as soon as Jeffers posts it - later this week.More later, but to ALL who worked to make this event such a rewarding victory:
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
Man what a great sign. And where everyone had to see it? LOL - you guys deserve a FreePer!
...but NONE of it would have been possible without that 4' x 8' sign created by DoughtyOne.
I really think this sign helped tone down the Anti-American spin during the Oscars.
The actors knew their words and applause for anti-USA comments would bite them in the butt. They aren't really that brave, you know.
I'm so glad that sign was there to pinch their consciences before they entered the Red Carpet!!
Even though Freeping is fun, this never would work without the efforts of RonDog and everyone else (more people then I know!) who planned ahead of time, gathered props, signs, found the perfect locations, etc.
Working separately, but together in purpose, makes for a very successful freep!!
It looked a little iffy early in the morning RonDog, but it appears things turned out great. Did the Oscars' employee follow through by helping you position on the corner, or did he flake out?
Way to go. I'm impressed.
What was your creation? :=)
