A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Yes, FRiends, it's another Finest "Play Day"!
We should be visiting another state today, but the 'Finest Tour Bus' is in the shop for repairs (again!). So, we will be staying home and having a play day instead. For those of you who have your heart set on traveling, you are welcome to re-visit any or all of our Finest states below..... :-)
...the rest of us will stay here and
Being 8 Years Old Again
I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.
- I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
- I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
- I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
- I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
- I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
- I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
- I want to believe that anything is possible.
- I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
- I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
- I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...
"Tag! You're it!"
and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

My beautiful little girl just turned 8 and I am so proud of her. Well, she'll fit right in here with our crowd today. No one knows how to play like an eight year old. :-)
She writes to the troops when she can and loves to listen to Sean and Mark Levin..you made me smile and cry at the same time.
Today's post is a silly one and I almost didn't post it, but I didn't have anything else planned for the thread today. Now I am feeling better about it. :-)
Hugs to your eight year old! Sounds like Mama is raising her up to be a proud and patriotic American. We can sure use more of them! :-)

To: All
A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked,
"Who would like this $20 bill?"
Hands started going up.
He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.
He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?"
Still the hands were up in the air.
Well, he replied, "What if I do this?"
And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe.
He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?"
Still the hands went into the air.
My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson.
No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value.
It was still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless.
But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value.
Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.
The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know,
but by WHO WE ARE.
You are special- Don't EVER forget it."
If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring.
Count your blessings, not your problems.
And remember: amateurs built the ark .. professionals built the Titanic.
If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

Hi BykrBayb. Hope you and your Navy son are doing well. Is he stationed aboard a ship? :-)
To: Dubya
Thanks for your compliment. We're just having a silly play day today. Nice for a change. :-)

USS Charlotte (SSN 766), ported in Pearl Harbor. Just got back from WestPac a couple weeks ago, and expects to head out "somewhere," "soon."
Ah, the Silent Service. LOL

Ah, the Silent Service. LOL Oh, that's right, he went into submarine service. I remember now that you told me that. So, when he leaves, you don't know where he is until he surfaces again? That must be hard.
I went aboard a "Fast Attack" sub when we were in Florida for our son's graduation from boot camp years ago. I have the deepest respect for the men who can serve in such close quarters aboard those things. Gives me the heebee-geebees just thinking about it!

...being a key board activist is one thing, getting out there and confronting the powers that be is another! You said a mouthful there.
I was a bit down this morning when I posted to you about people seeming to be so apolitical around here....but perked up mightily after receiving a "newsletter" from the County Republican Women's Committee. It was a recap of the meeting last month, which I had attended after being informed of it and the group by my state Senator's constituent person who I had been haranguing on the phone about some legislation.
In it was a comment about my having attended, with a reference to me as a "long time Delaware Republican activist" who has expressed an interest in joining!!!!
Did me good....it's time for me to again go beyond keyboard and telephone activism.

Oh, Mama Bear you don't want to ask me that. I run a web site for the Soldier Moms. Most of them have active duty kids in Iraq. You would get a bunch. But let me know. If you still want them I will get their approval and send the first names to you. (OPSEC)
God bless ya for your service and your love of God.

You know, Star--I never have gotten my hero band! I just wonder if they ran out of them before they got to me. I'll bet they were overwhelmed with requests for them, but I still hope it comes (maybe before the one I wanted it for gets back home!)

I think many of those who were 'here' yesterday downloaded at least one or two new fonts. Fun, huh?! Yes, I am one of those, but I still haven't had the time to find out what I can do with them. I will have to study the thread better to find more info. I guess I am a slow learner! Ha-ha!
