A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....02-23-05....Another Finest Play Day

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Being 8 Years Old Again

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old again.

  • I want to go to McDonald's and think that it's a four star restaurant.
  • I want to sail sticks across a fresh mud puddle and make a sidewalk with rocks.
  • I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them.
  • I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer's day.
  • I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn't bother you, because you didn't know what you didn't know and you didn't care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset.
  • I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good.
  • I want to believe that anything is possible.
  • I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again.
  • I want to live simple again. I don't want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, and loss of loved ones.
  • I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow.
So, here's my checkbook and my car-keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you'll have to catch me first, 'cause...

"Tag! You're it!"

and have a wonderful Wednesday!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Hi Dave! So, "Bailey" is the name you've settled on? I like it!

Hi Chong! It's been a long time since I have run into you.

Yesterday's font thread was fun, wasn't it? Billie comes up with the most creative ideas for her threads. I downloaded about 15 new ones.

It has been a long time! Usually I lurk, maybe make a comment or two for the night and slink away on various threads, but consider this to be my home. Thank you for making me feel welcome. :-)

LOL! It's got little Outlines of the State of Texas around all the Consonants in a Sentence. It has become one of my Favorite Fonts! : )

To: Mama_Bear; All

I wear my bracelet for my son who is serving in the National Guard in Iraq.

For those who dont know, you can send FREE e-cards to your Heroes at www.bluestarsforsafereturn.com . Also make sure you add their names to the Wall of Heroes for those serving; Veterans Wall of Honor for those who have served in the past; POW/MIA Wall Still Praying for their safe return.

Take a look around the site, everything we do is for the support of the troops and their families...and yes, we do pray for them every day, usually several times a day, indivisually, and also unified as a group.

God Bless America And those brave enough to stand tall to sacrifice it all for our freedoms, this includes those who have gone before.

Hi Donaeus. I am looking forward to receiving mine, but I understand that it can take a LONG time. The demand for these bracelets has to be overwhelming. I am hoping they are prepared for the number of people who have requested them.

As Lady Jag said, I believe the wait is a good sign. :) I won't mind if I'm last as long as our men and women know we're behind them.
