CNN's Bruce Morton Urges End of Boycott of French Products: "Drink their Wine, Eat French Fries"
Inside Politics - CNN | governsleast governsbest

CNN liberal girly-man Bruce Morton just completed a segment on Inside Politics the point of which was to encourage Americans to stop boycotting French products.

His pitch came in the course of a segment demonstrating - through poll results and conciliatory remarks by Condi Rice - that American attitudes toward France are thawing.

He concluded his piece, standing at a bar with many bottles of (presumably French) wine in evidence, by instructing us "so have a glass of French wine, or eat a French fry - they're good!"

Thanks, Brucie, but when it comes to my personal economic foreign policy, I'll take guidance from my own principles, not from over-the-hill liberal hacks like you.

Maybe I'll consciously buy a French product a short time after I stop switching the channel when it hits CNN, or after Hell freezes over. Whichever comes first.

By the way, anybody got today's weather report from Hell?

OK this has been an interesting anti-French thread, but doesn't anybody here find it in the least bit strange that a supposed American news source is promoting buying French products and trying to get Americans to forget how disgusting the French's behavior has been???

Since when are American news companies mouthpieces for the French?? I guess the bigger question is why?

Nope, still frozen solid here.

Personally, I never boycotted French products. I think boycotts are usually a liberal kinda thing.

"Send a message!" Phooey. If I want to send a message, I use email or the telephone. I have no problem with French food, nor with the French who produce it, as a group. Boycotting, in this case, is just the wrong mentality, IMO.

I thought the French said they didn't care if we boycotted them. I guess I'll still boycott those fools.

Don't think takign the bottle home was an option in this NYC restaurant. But I did email my local wine store today to see if they could get me a case of the stuff.

You answered your own question. No, it is not strange, it's CNN.

No, it sent the perfect message to a people who care more about money than security or friendship not to mention that they were willing to leave those people wallowing under Saddam for ever as long as the money kept flowing.

Writing a note that will never be read would do nothing, but this boycott has.

It's called a free market. I can decide what to buy, from whom I buy and how much I am willing to pay. Sometimes I send a message by my decisions. Deal with it.

Really? I guess I missed the part where everyone in France loves us now and wants to be dedicated supporters of our future efforts in the WOT. </sarcasm>

What has it accomplished, other than narrowing your choices for food?
