The President had no formal appearances today, but in a 98-0 decision, nominee Michael Chertoff was confirmed as the new Secretary of Homeland Security by the Senate. President Bush signed a declaration that Ohio is a major disaster area due to a severe ice storm, heavy snow flooding and mudslides (it's still a mess here!). First Lady Laura Bush spoke today at the 2005 Community College National Legislative Summit in Washington.
The Dems are on the run and losing ground. It's a GREAT Day to be a Bushbot, so ENJOY your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!!
There were a ton of entertainers in town and every Country D.J. who could con his boss into paying for his trip was in town. There were no rooms at the Inn any where near the convention. Kris did offer to pay for my room. I let him stay but diddn't charge him.
By the way Jimmy Hoffa was staying just 3 doors down. He complained to the Hotel management about the music in my room. When the hotel guy came to my room to shut me down, he found Roy Orbison was the guy singing.
Orbison had a chat with the hotel guy, he went to Hoffa's room and told him who was making the loud music.
They told Hoffa he would soon be gone but the hotel made a lot of money off the music industry. They told Hoffa they would be glad to get him a room in another Hotel.
The next morning I got onto the elevator with Hoffa and his goons. I was praying they didn't know who I was. I never let on I even knew who they were. Perhaps that is why I am still breathing.
I'm having a cheeseburger for lunch!
I'm stuck with soup. :-( And guess what--I already have it on my shirt!
BIG surprise!
I pinged you to a rather humorous thread.
Thanks, I'll check it out!
'course now I guess I'll be expected to put a "u" in everything! LOL!
Tator, do you still write?
MARTY ROBBINS - I'll Go On Alone - Singing The Blues - A White Sport Coat (And A Pink Carnation) - The Story Of My Life - Just Married - El Paso - Don't Worry - Devil Woman - Ruby Ann - Begging To You - Ribbon Of Darkness - Tonight Carman - I Walk Alone - My Woman My Woman My Wife - El Paso City - Among My Souvenirs
I am not sure but I think Ruby Ann made it to number 24 or 25 on the charts. Didn't Kris write El Paso? ..That was a huge hit.

No I don't think so. I believe Marty wrote it.

No. 32. Argued October 13, 1966. Decided December 12, 1966.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Over a period of several weeks in the late autumn of 1962 there took place in a federal court in Nashville, Tennessee, a trial by jury in which James Hoffa was charged with violating a provision of the Taft-Hartley Act. That trial, known in the present record as the Test Fleet trial, ended with a hung jury. The petitioners now before us - James Hoffa, Thomas Parks, Larry Campbell, and Ewing King - were tried and convicted [385 U.S. 293, 295] in 1964 for endeavoring to bribe members of that jury. 1 The convictions were affirmed by the Court of Appeals. 2 A substantial element in the Government's proof that led to the convictions of these four petitioners was contributed by a witness named Edward Partin, who testified to several incriminating statements which he said petitioners Hoffa and King had made in his presence during the course of the Test Fleet trial. Our grant of certiorari was limited to the single issue of whether the Government's use in this case of evidence supplied by Partin operated to invalidate these convictions. 382 U.S. 1024 .

The 'tator was staying at the Andrew Jackson Hotel in October of 1962 and so was Jimmy Hoffa.
Yes but I have not tried to get anything published or recorded for decades.
Now it is mostly just a hobby.
None of the songwriters wanted to see Kristofferson coming because he couldn't sing. Was a great writer, just couldn't sing. Still can't. But he has plenty of money.LOL
Tator, you go back a long way in Nashville. I went there in 85 and stayed for 17 years.
And Roy Orbison was singing in the impromptu jam in yer hotel room?! I'll believe you, but you gotta admit it's a lot to swallow. LOL!!
FReegards...MUD
