The President had no formal appearances today, but in a 98-0 decision, nominee Michael Chertoff was confirmed as the new Secretary of Homeland Security by the Senate. President Bush signed a declaration that Ohio is a major disaster area due to a severe ice storm, heavy snow flooding and mudslides (it's still a mess here!).
