I just heard Tony Snow say he has colon cancer.

I have Crohn's and had 3/4 of my colon removed this summer. It wasn't pleasant (meaning painful!) and I won't ever have another 'normal' movement, but it was well worth it. If only I didn't have this big scar.

Went through it two years ago, as my father did before me. I'm okay now, but my father died because of lack of follow ups. I'm sure you'll get all kinds of advice, but the one I must give you: periodic bone scans after you recover from surgery.

I would do it yesterday if there's family history. I got mine at 36 and would have not made it to 40.

A dear friend of mine was stricken with colon cancer 5 years ago.

No sign of cancer now, and the prognosis is excellent.
