NEW YORK - CNN chief news executive Eason Jordan quit Friday amidst a furor over remarks he made in Switzerland last month about journalists killed by the U.S. military in Iraq (news - web sites).
Jordan said he was quitting to avoid CNN being "unfairly tarnished" by the controversy.
During a panel discussion at the World Economic Forum (news - web sites) last month, Jordan said he believed that several journalists who were killed by coalition forces in Iraq had been targeted.
He quickly backed off the remarks, explaining that he meant to distinguish between journalists killed because they were in the wrong place where a bomb fell, for example, and those killed because they were shot at by American forces who mistook them for the enemy.
"I never meant to imply U.S. forces acted with ill intent when U.S. forces accidentally killed journalists, and I apologize to anyone who thought I said or believed otherwise," Jordan said in a memo to fellow staff members at CNN.
But the damage had been done, compounded by the fact that no transcript of his actual remarks has turned up. There was an online petition calling on CNN to find a transcript, and fire Jordan if he said the military had intentionally killed journalists.
or take DanBlather's place....
I believe many people just nod yes just to keep or get a job. They know the difference but their silence has been bought. For those you describe, it's fun to watch them when they get busted by both sides.... their inner squishy is impossible to control..... 5, 4, 3, 2, BOOK DEAL!
I know it's a lot to say and maybe shows how low our opinions of liberal character has gone, but good for Barney Frank for taking the lead on this and defending the integrity of the troops.
Apparently Eason Jordan has more character than Dan Rather... though that is a bit like saying that Michael Jackson is a better babysitter than Jeffrey Dahmer.
I agree. While I don't expect the MSM liars will change their stripes over this, but there certainly has to be some who are going to think twice before they spin their lies considering that Blather and now Jordan have been held accountable by the New Media. Brick by brick...
One would hope that, I agree. Perhaps, though, most of the stockholders are of the same ilk, and have already divested, whether secretly or in majority or not, and see the handwriting on the wall and have made HUGH donations to freerepublic!....BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!.........all kidding aside, I don't think major stockholders in the MSM are going to lose. Not right now. If that were true, all you would see on cbs is the "eye" and no transmission. They're cooking something up. Too much money involved...
FMCDH(BITS)
Where credit is due, it should be given. Huzzah Barney Frank.. you done good.
Ouch!!!!!! /meow :)
Of course, even 15 years ago, we wouldn't even be surprised at Frank's behavior, but in today's Democratic party, it's a regular profile in courage.
You are so right!! :)
RELEASE THE TAPE!
"Eason Down the Road?"
Don't get cocky just yet. The MSM is far from dead. We have a long way to go. But...I sure savor one victory at a time.
By the way by definition they are not out to get you. If they are you are not.
LOL!!
Now you changed the tune in my mind from HIT THE ROAD, JACK, to Ease on Down the Ro-oad!! :)
Been a busy day around here that's for sure!! I took my eyes of F/R once, and was thrashed to a pulp.. Let this be a lesson to us both!! :)
Another way of putting it: We gave up a pawn to take out a Bishop!
I think CNN deliberately targeted Eason for his remarks.
