Teacher Charged With Having Sex With 13-Year-Old Student

Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005 McMINNVILLE, Tenn. - An elementary school teacher has been charged with having sex with one of her students, a 13-year-old boy, at his home and at school, authorities said Tuesday.

Pamela Turner, 27, was charged Monday with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape for acts between November and January. Story Continues Below

Turner, who teaches physical education at Centertown Elementary, lived at the boy's house "for a brief period of time when she was moving from residence to residence," Warren County prosecutor Dale Potter said. The boy's parents did not know anything about the relationship, he said. Potter said Turner was arrested Monday in Clarkrange, her hometown about 55 miles northeast of McMinnville in central Tennessee.

Conviction on all counts could be punished by up to 100 years in prison. But Potter said it was more likely that a conviction would mean a minimum of a year to several years in prison.

Turner is free on $50,000 bond. She's been placed on leave by the school system.

A telephone message left at the home of her father, who lives in Clarkrange, was not immediately returned Tuesday evening.

Turner's husband filed for divorce in January, alleging inappropriate marital conduct, according to the Southern Standard newspaper in McMinnville.

re: "women are meant for pleasure, no emotional commitment needed"

One does not inexorably follow the other, that's one of my points. I don't think that the average man thinks that women are meant only (or even largely) for sexual pleasure. In fact, like I said, I think most men develop very strong emotional bonds to the woman in their monogamous relationship.

When you juxtapose and link the two ideas, I feel that the thought is repulsive to most mature adults.

That being said, the two ideas are not necessarily & inexorably linked.

As a male, it's a relatively simple matter for me to enjoy and indulge in shallow sexual relationships with a variety of goodlooking women who I barely know, and who I may not even like, let alone care for or love.

Most women, on balance, have a much tougher time pulling that stunt off over an extended period of time for reasons we have discussed. That isn't true in all cases, but as a general principle it is true.

But I can recognize my instinct to have sex with a variety of attractive women who I barely even know, without coming to any harsh, absolute conclusion that women are meant only for pleasure. Nor would recognizing my instinct compromise my ability to form a strong and mutually rewarding bond with a woman in my life.

There is no reason to necessarily link the two thoughts.

There is smoke&mirrors on this whole thread, talking about whether it's "natural" or not or "exciting". Not the point. Men like these are as you said "cavalier" and their reaction on the start of the thread was RUDE. End of story.

Brings to mind "Home Improvement" when Tim had ogled or made a comment (or something) about some chick and his wife knew about it. Tim asked wise neighbor Wilson about the whole thing, justifying himself and wondering why it's such a big deal to Jill. Wilson said his reaction was understandable, all that. But when posited about the comment or visible reaction, Wilson told Tim,

"Well that's just rude".

IOW, keep it to yourself. That means words, as well as your member.

I'm explaining why many (maybe most) men might be outwardly and initially cavalier (and maybe even a bit rude) about the matter, but how this offers almost no insight into how they really think about the matter upon reflection.

Comments like 'she's hot!' and 'where was she when I was 13!' may not be in good taste, but you have to butress those wisecracks with some very important facts:

She really is hot. And a lot of us men instinctively do wonder where she was when we were 13.

That's not a license for rudeness, I agree, but adding exagerated seriousness to wisecracks made thoughtlessly isn't very helpful, either.

I think almost no people in all sincerity genuinely applaud statuatory rape regardless of the permutations.

I do think the thoughts I raised have crossed the minds of most men who read about the story. I also think cooler heads prevail in time.

To add undue gravity to the jokes, to not give due credit to the more sincere thoughts, and most importantly exhibiting the chronic inability to distingish beteween the two, may not be a huge moral failing, but I assure you it will make you a dud at parties.

"What damage does a male pose to a girl, that a woman doesn't pose to a boy?"

First parts ease... AIDS is almost never transmitted from a female to a make through sex. Boys don't get peregrinate girls do. A thirteen year old boy would most likely brag about it. Women are the weaker sex. Nothing happens without an erection. (take your pick)

"By your rational, a woman cannot sexually abuse a boy, right?"

A woman could certainly abuse a male child, however a woman having consensual sex with a 13 year old boy is likely not abuse on the part of the woman.

Most men will tell you they lost there Virginity with there Babysitters even my dad says that he was 11 and she 16, that school of thought is older than the napkin holder.

Most women from 35 to 50 for the most part say they lost there virginity between 17 and 19 due to pressure from the boyfriend...

Yes they do and I think they learn what to say by age hmm 11...But reading your posts you do speak the truth even my own brothers would say they were going out with some girl one night that they didn't much care for because of the rewarding end result?

I think you have it figured out, especially regarding "I think they learn what to say by age hmm 11." Adding undue seriousness to 'talk' isn't productive, since I think we all tend to recognize 'talk' and its value (that is, zippo).

As for your brothers, yea, that happens. I think some of that, though, bleeds over into the 'talk' field. That was true in 1955, 1975, and 2005. It will be true in 2025 too, I am sure

I do think that as men mature, they do naturally seek a more substantial and fulfilling relationship with a woman.

The point I raised here was only peripheral, though - as far as his own internal processes are concerned, it's pretty easy for a male to indulge in a sexual tryst with an attractive, fit, receptive woman and have almost no emotional component attached to the episode whatsoever. He may not even like her, let alone love her (he may not even be sure of her name, actually). He may never think about her again, in fact. As a man my whole life (haha) I can tell you that pulling off that stunt is not much of a challenge at all.

The challenge in regards to this issue is twofold:

1. All 'talk' aside, it's not really easy to find these women; and

2. If you do strike gold, women like this tend to just sail through your life - if it does happen, don't try tacking her down 2 months later to relive the adventure. She is most likely off satisfying somebody else's fantasy, and not too much into returning some nameless guy's calls.

Or more accurately, it's mostly just the stuff of fantasy!

Or that Old dilemma alot of men fall into "I didn't realize how much you meant to me until you left....."

or the men that say to you... I have loved alot of women but I gave you my heart....

Sometimes they just don't know....

Normally I’d be against a 25 year old woman having sex with a 13 year old boy, but when the woman is that hot, there’s got to be an exception.

Great post, Hitman - as someone else said, you nailed it.

My predictions for this boy's future:
1. He is going to turn out just fine.
2. He knew what he was "getting" - and he _loved_ it. He probably wants _more_.
3. He is the envy of most _other_ boys his age at school.
4. He is likely going to become quite popular with the ladies in a few years.

Cheers!

I was just messing with him/her. The link to his/her info page is: http://www.freerepublic.com/~arasina/

The first picture on the page may or may not be "Arasina", but it is a good looking picture.
