Need Intelligent Freeper Input: Guidelines For Our Prominent Freepers
Source: All of us | 02/11/2005 | By Laz

Posted on 02/11/2005 7:19:23 AM PST by Lazamataz

Recently, two Freepers who have some measure of prominance outside the forum have been damaged by liberals and/or Democrats. Jeff Gannon has resigned as a White House reporter, and the individual who goes by the name NCPAC has left his position in Maryland.

J. Gannon wasn't necessarily damaged by anything he posted here, but NCPAC was damaged by the work of a Democrat mole or a Washington Post reporter who revealed his freepmails.

It should be possible to post on this forum with anonymity and to be able to really discuss what's on your mind without worrying about Democrats trying to ruin your professional life, so, in order to help prominent Republicans who may wish to be an active member of Free Republic, I'm formulating some suggestions that I would like to have new users see.

This is what I have so far, as far as guidelines to help our prominent freepers avoid damage in the future:

If You Are A High-Profile Individual In “Real Life”….

If your daily job is such that you are a high-profile individual – as example, an official in a Republican campaign, or a state official in a Republican administration, or a rightward-leaning reporter – please read this article and take these suggestions.
  1. Please don’t reveal your identity. Please don’t drop hints as to who you are. Please don’t succumb to the temptation to show off a little and thusly compromise your anonymity.

  2. Know that there are Democrat operatives (and now, it appears, Legacy Media reporters) who pretend to be loyal conservatives. They will attempt to get you to reveal damaging information about your candidate, your administration, or your media enterprise.

  3. This is for ALL Freepers: Never reveal any personal contact information. Please don’t post (or share in Freepmail) any email accounts, private phone numbers, addresses, or places of employment – unless you really know and trust the person to whom you are revealing these things.

  4. Know that Freepmail can be, and sometimes is, exposed publicly. Please, never say anything in Freepmail that you would not want posted on the public forum. Please, people, add whatever you think might be helpful, and I will post the result as a new article.

practice reading news stories and see the disclaimers that keep them from getting sued...

I think I'll say: "maine-iac7 was just telling me the other day..." when I need a source.

JUST KIDDING!

In all seriousness, BUMPING A VERY IMPORTANT THREAD!

I "googled" myself once out of curiosity. Even though I am a fairly well known person in my industry and have a small but well known business, I got no hits. Seems my name is fairly common among some well known people.

When I googled my freerepublic sceenname I got quite a few hits off my posts. Go figure.

I did the same thing and my responses were remarkably similar to each other ...........

John Kerry is a far worse example. Kennedy is a drunk, a left wing hack, and is guilty of manslaughter. Kerry sold out his nation in 1971, and again on his recent trip overseas.

******************

And they're both from Massachusetts. Yikes.

You must know that by giving out that information, for $39.95 anyone can find your home address. none the less, it's admirable you are so straight forward in your line of work.

At least when you are open with your information you do not have a false sense of anonymity. Further, you are more likely to be prepared for potential problems.

Well Mr Laza Mataz

I tend to agree with you I don't think some realize this is the World Wide Web. If you really want to communicate with others Freepmail em, get a personal e-mail addy and go from there. But this forum is private but yet public kinda like a park and I sure don't drop my pants in the park.

I will simply state the rule of thumb among security and covert operatives as to the reality of any anonymity or keeping secrets and confidentiality. It is thus; "Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead".

You are right. Laz is right.

Now what is left? Who's on the left? Who's left?
Who's on first? (sorry, just trying to bore the trolls).

This type of discussion format (unlike any others I have seen. Has anyone else seen anything like the format used here on FR anywhere else?) promotes a collective investigation of the truth.

Get on something like DU, or a CHAT SITE (gee, they look the same) and you know everyone is lying through their teeth.

I have revealed details (and am glad no one cares or remembers) to others, and they to me.

Those most important to me (and I think, most Freepers) are those whose experience in life has given them knowledge in areas unknown, untrained, unexperienced by me.

Politics, Astronomy, Physics are just a few I can think of that bring to mind certain posters that have proven experience in those areas.

One poster I know of, was revealed , by others, as proof of his credibility. (nothing negative was caused or intentioned,by this, BTW)

I don't want to hide in the dark to escape the darkness.
I don't want the truth compromised because a poster's words are just smoke on a mirror.

The poster that is the lead discussion point in this thread, was just doing what we all do. He has the right of free speech, and is free to state he heard the same rumors others did. I trust this Freeper more than usual, because of his actions AFTER this happened. He quit working for the person who was the subject of the rumors someone else posted on a thread. (So, he isn't working for an 'alledged and longtime rumored' adulterer any more. GOOD FOR HIM!)

Seems he chose to be able to have the freedom to express the truth, rather than hide the truth for someone else.

We have the right, but we also have the responsibility. We must be careful with our words, because our words generate actions. I always believed that once said, words cannot be 'taken back'.

Laz is right. Be careful what you say. Be truthful in what you say.

But do not be afraid. We all are gonna die at the end of the story, so the only fun is in the battle.

Sad to say, good points, all.

We are in a war, and the Smash-Mouth Politics that the Clinton darkness usered in are still with us, and really worse than ever.

Be alert
( the world needs more 'lerts... )
...and stay safe.

I suspect the mods have access to freemail exchanges, but those aren't public.

Long rumored, but completely untrue. I flat out asked somebody in the know that I trust. It's not true.

John Robinson has access. In some previous dust up he made the info public. You probably know this.

Thank you for the ping and to Laz for the original post! Great ideas here.

Compliments on the song parody in # 275. :o)

Not that I flatter myself with the idea that I'd ever have a Buckhead moment, but what happened to him was a strong reminder not to post personally identifying information. To that end, alas, you couldn't pick me out of a lineup based on the pic on my homepage or the one (and more's the pity) on TheBigB's page. (No kiddin', I'd brag to the high heavens if I looked like that, LOL!)
