Jihad Jack 'in fragile mental state'

MELBOURNE terrorist suspect "Jihad" Jack Thomas was in a precarious mental state ahead of his second bid for bail tomorrow, his lawyer said today.

Joseph Terrence Thomas, 31, also known as Jack, was arrested during a raid by counter-terrorism police at his Werribee home in Melbourne's western suburbs last November. The former taxi driver and Muslim convert faces charges of receiving financial support from al-Qaeda, providing al-Qaeda with resources or support to help them carry out a terrorist act and having a false passport.

He was refused bail in the Victorian Supreme Court in December.

Today, his lawyer Rob Stary said Thomas should be released from Barwon Prison, where he is in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day and has no contact with other inmates.

Thomas requested access to an Islamic cleric before Christmas but was refused, Mr Stary said.

He was allowed physical contact visits with his children – aged three years and 12 months – for a short time once a month, but no physical contact with his wife, parents or brother.

"He is terribly distressed and I think his mental state is completely fragile," Mr Stary said.

"He has returned to a life to complete normality (in Australia) and then to be plucked off the street for an offence which is said to have been committed in Pakistan ... it was completely traumatic.

"He has been completely traumatised by the process."

PLEEEEEASE, pass me a hankie!

I wonder how traumatised he thinks the victims of 9/11 and Bali are...

Terrorists pleading for sympathy - now, I've heard everything!

Well, you have to be mental to be a jihadist. Jihadists are supported by liberals. So........see the trail of breadcrumbs I'm leaving you? :-)

I'm sure he thinks they'll look awfully cute wearing their belt bombs.

His distress is knowing he will not be able to harm anyone for a long long time, hopefully.

Just a wild guess here, but is it possible that he was in a 'fragile mental state' -before- being arrested? I know, it sounds crazy, but work with me...

So, we are now supposed to feel sorry for these jihadist pigs when the start to crack from their strain of dealing with the punishments they have rightly brought upon themselves?

I DON'T THINK SO. Were it up to me, they'd be publicly hanged after the crowd gets the chance to rough 'em up a bit.

None of this hand-wringing over their rights - which, IMHO, were forfeit when they decided to make human sacrifice to the bloddthirsty moon-god Allah.

Jihad Jack having mental problems? Good. That's what he gets for siding with the enemies of civilization.

No remorse for ridding the world of evil men.

Australians might remember what happened before the 2000 Olympics. Osama bin Laden's group was planning to attack a nuclear reactor in Sydney before they attacked us on Sept. 11, 2001. CNN LINK

I hope they have a good memory and don't let this terrorist get out because of his "trauma".

He should volunteer for the UK TV channel's Gitmo reality show if he needs extra cash.

DARN! And me being fresh out of sympathy. Isn't that the way it always happens, some poor murdering terrorist thug needs my sympathy and I'm fresh out.
