secular society has been the educational factor. Our
schools may not teach Johnny to read properly, but the
fact that Johnny is in school until he is 16 tends to
lead toward the elimination of religious superstition.

myths of alleged history.

Humanists know that the future of our country rests
with our children. Therefore, in order to control the
future of our country, they must control the minds of

That was my question but some would rather homeschool and the rest is somebody elses problem even though their paying for the system.

Some say it's too corrupt and just gave up.

I have been here for six years and almost every
antagonizing poster that I have run across (>90%) was a
schoolteacher. Some were even banned shortly after.
Almost all were defending the Stalinist homosexual indoctrinate the
little children agenda.
In another forum on the gay school agenda, a schoolteacher
started to attack grammar mistakes in my posts. When I
looked at his posts, they contained numerous spelling
mistakes, sentences that were passive or
ran on for 30+ words in highly unbalanced illegible
formats. Not that I care but there seems to be a common
denominator here.
Notice the person (smart-alecky) who was game playing with
us claimed to be a teacher.
Any comments on this?

Nothing wrong with homeschooling. It's homeschooling and then not participating in the public school system which is taking their money to, in some cases, use it for a flawed system.

Sitting at home on FR bitc*ing about doesn't solve the problems. Hence, I'll hide my kid at home, you take my tax money and spend it anyway you want and I'll complain to people who can do nothing about it. LOL

Which, makes the idea that "some people have"...that they can insulate their children from society if they homeschool a silly one.

At some point those kids have to go out into society and confront the kids that were educated by a system they deplore. Schools are a microcosm of society. People curse, they talk about sex, there are perverts, there are homosexuals and others that aren't perceived as the best of society.
Like it or not schools have to deal with those issues. If people don't like the way a school is dealing with it change it.

I would also point out that just because there are some in business who aren't the paragon of ethics doesn't mean they all are bad anymore than to say all teachers and schools are bad. :-)

At one time, schools imparted academic knowledge. Frankly, I think public schools have lost their way in that regard.

Based on my experience, having spoken to many teachers, and what I read, it's still to educate.

Don't know about where you live but my kids took reading, writing, math, science, history,several times over.........you know, the usual.

Education of children is solely the responsibility of the parent or guardian. They can farm out the job to teachers of one kind or another, but they themselves are responsible to see that education happens, and that it is of the right kind.

That is the gist of the problem. Education is not a function of government. Government schools worked tolerably when it was controlled at the local level with parents having significant control (which was the way government schools were run when we were young). Now government and bureaucracies far removed from the local scene make all the decisions, and parents have no say.

I would close all government schools and repeal all school taxes. I might agree to keeping a "public" school system for indigent students comparable to a public health clinic.

Don't be dense. Government schools have next to nothing to do with education. If you are in favor of education, you should oppose government schools.
