Couple accused of torturing children Allegedly pulled out kids' toenails, beat them with hammers

(CNN) -- A manhunt has been launched in Florida for a couple accused of torturing five of seven children in their home, including pulling out their toenails with pliers and keeping them so malnourished that they "looked like pictures from Auschwitz," authorities said Thursday.
Citrus County Sheriff's spokeswoman Gail Tierney said an arrest warrant was issued for John Dollar, 58, and his wife, Linda, 51 -- each of whom face one count of "aggravated child abuse/torture" for all five children.
The Dollars were the legal guardians of all seven children, although they were not their biological parents, Tierney said. She said the other two children were said to be "favorites" of the Dollars, and were spared their alleged abuse.
The case came to authorities' attention two weeks ago, when a 16-year-old was transported from the family home in Beverly Hills, Florida, to a local hospital. The boy was bleeding from a laceration on his head and there were red marks on his neck. He weighed just 59 pounds, Tierney said.
"That was just the start of the alarming parts of this case," she told CNN in a telephone interview.

You know, you can understand maybe one deranged person, but both of them? Who decided it was a good idea to give these people kids?
Lot's of people are accused of child abuse with the flimsiest amount of evidence which turns out to be false or overstated
If these children really were abused as claimed, there is no punishment fitting.
Maybe this is a new venture for these folks. I saw their pictures this morning--they looked downright neighborly.

I don't understand, I just dont' understand.
And I don't want to either.
Do we have another outrage by two parties here? One, obviously, these to animals who deserve the absolute worst of punishment and 2) The so-called Child protective Services agencies that appear to have, yet again, failed miserably in providing even the slightest oversight over the condition of those unable to protect themselves, these children.
And what about the other parties who surely witnessed this barbarism? The 16 year old who weighed 59 lbs.! Where were caregivers who failed to recognize obvious abuse long ago or, even, the neighbors who must have turned a blind eye to the agony these children were enduring? IMO Plenty of blame to go around here for the failure to stop these psychotic animals from plying their sordid trade.
I would bet the farm they are loyal democrat voters.
Have the "parents" been located? The newspaper article says they fled the county,,,,?
