STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.
Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).
Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.
Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.
Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

Foxnews, as always, was great! But, during one of the commercials, I switched over to Chrissy Matthews and what a surprise. He was absolutely being totally compimetary of the President's speech! It was the best!

If that's the case, aren't the Dems committing terminal suicide by opposing it?Terminal suicide. That sounds series! What is the cure for non-terminal suicide?

Gods help me, but I prefer Colmes to Hannity.
Colmes may be a bed-wetting liberal douche, but at least he sounds like he's read a book once in his life.
I honestly can't say the same about Hannity.

4% I believe. And some folks on FR knock California's GOvernor for failing to cut spending. President Bush isn't doing it either. No politician will.

Why is it everything Bush does is politically motivated? I remember when Clinton was in office nothing was politcal in their eyes. But Clinton didnt do anything without thinking about politics. I think Bush does everything from his heart. Because when I met Bush, when he was gov, he sat with me and talk UT football since we were at a game. I thought he was extermily nice which I thought was cool b/c I was in middle school at the time.

"Ron Reagan, after having already said that the Iragi woman was used as political tool by Mr. Bush, NOW says that there was another woman who was there tonight who wasn't introduced. She was the widow of Christopher Reeve, and she was there to highlight the stem cell research issue."And it follows, of course, that little (VERY little) Ron did NOT use Mrs. Reeve as HIS political tool. Geez, that guy ought to get a life - somewhere on Mars. Oh well, the Democrats hate all things originating from the Republicans. It could be AIR, and they'd find something wrong with it.

Well, ya know what? I'm gonna go watch a movie...I've heard enough of the whiners tonight. George W. Bush hit a grand-slam and the more they try to spin it into negativity, then it just proves it was a grandslam and they can't handle it. Ha! Goodnight!

Caught his BS! Reagan is an idiot. Everything has to be political to ole twinkle toes. Matthews, on the other hand, as well as the rest of the panel, were quite compimentary of the President's speech. Caught that gig during a Foxnews commercial break.

I haven't seen Peggy tonight. My prediction is that she will write a column telling us how President Bush followed her advice. (Insert Miss Marple rolling her eyes.)
I won't be home tomorrow and will have limited access to a computer. If her column is posted, please ping me to it. Thanks!
