2 dead 16 injured, as per Fox news
It's really no surprise that Teddy wants to cut and run. Isn't that what he did out on Chappaquidick? We saw the inlet he claimed he swam with a back brace. Of course he offered to swim it again just to prove he could.
We need to pray for Massachusetts--not only do they have Ted, they have John Kerry and Barney Frank too. How Mitt Romney was every elected is nothing short of a miracle--maybe there's hope yet
I guess you'd have to court-martial Jimmy Carter first.
Had the comment to which I was responding been posted along with my response, the sarcasm would have been manifest. No apology needed.
I guess I'm done with the folks who can't/won't accept the triumphal feat of arms that the Iraq campaign has been. While regrettable, the deaths of our men and women during this particular segment on the WOT have been incredibly low, historically low for conflicts in this part of the world especially considering the lethality of modern weaponry. Some parts of the planning didn't pan out, but the adjustments are. I think the biggest question mark is whether the Iraqi people can form a 'national identity' and can institute a system that can protect the country from foreign and internal dangers in a way that succors freedom as well as Saddam did to protect his own ass. I think we'll need to help them longer than some would like, but that help honors the sacrifices made by the US already.
Oh geeeze - you are so right about watching Saint Walter during the 60's. How many lies per night did he tell? How much did he contribute to the evolving of a Silent Majority?
When Teddie croaks I will Dance in the street and pass out candy . . .
Bears repeating. TY for your gracious reply.
I don't think I disagree with what you remember or your impression but I'm an "oldie" as well and was certainly around at the time. Putting things in perspective, the nation didn't vote as your memory implies. What the vote does indicate is that at that point we (the nation) were sick and tired of a no win or at least a confusing or non-resolute strategy.
'I recognized it too ;-)'
You have a keen eye.
Bless You. We will not breathe easily until every one of our brave people come home but in the meantime am so proud to be an American and knowing we are making it possible for Iraq to taste Democracy. God Bless America and our Troops.
He might not if I wanted him to...heheh so lets make a suggestion:
Mr Admin moderator, could you please make a live Iraqi Election thread soon for this important and historic event?
And to prevent 50 related threads on the subject...
Either way thanks for your time.
"time to lob a missile into iran"
You mean iraq.
An easy spelling mistake as the names of the two countries differ little. :)
Well, you make good points. It looks as if the perpetrators of the rocket attack may have been captured. I just get angry when our people keep dying.
I remember his actual broadcasts.
'I believe by the end of today it is likely that we will be close to two thirds of those who registered having participated in the vote with one day still to go,' said Peter Erben, head of the Iraq out-of-country voting program run by the International Organization for Migration
They said we wouldnt capture Saddam. We did.
They said the election wouldnt happen. It is.
They said turnout would be low due to security concerns. It wont.
Never trust the MSM,the Left, or terrorist sympathisers. Their track record compells you to discount them on lack of credibility.
I agree, Bates. And here's my anecdote to summarize this attitude by the majority...a college friend joined the Army shortly after receiving her degree, eventually becoming a recruiter. When she went for her first interview before signing on the dotted line, they asked her what was her opinion of the ongoing War in Vietnam. She told them...exact words..."Either we should get all the way in, or we should get all the way out".
Perfect.
I get angry too. At the terrorists. But even if our side isn't perfect in strategy or execution, it is always that way in the crucible of war. The war planners and fighters have messed up so bad in all wars, many many soldiers and civilians have needlessly died or been maimed for life.
