Georgia Flag Vote update
Southern Heritage PAC ^ | Jan 25 | SHPAC

Posted on 01/27/2005 10:15:33 AM PST by DixieOklahoma

Support Georgia's right to have a REAL vote on their state flag... The only vote issued did not include the flag that sparked all the controversay in the first place!.

In addition, only 6% of registered voters showed up at the polls, BECAUSE the real Georgia state flag wasn't included in the referendum!!

There is currently a bill that has just been filed with the Georgia State House to allow the real flag to be included in a statewide vote, as well as the current flag.

No matter your feeling on the flag personally... There SHOULD BE a vote on this state flag. After all it is the people of the state of georgia that the flag represents! Right is right, and the people should have a vote on their stolen state flag.

RINO governor (the liar) Perdue, who will be defeated in his re election attempt in 2006, has vowed that this bill will be killed in comittee.

Lets see that that doesn't happen:

Show me one post where I called another poster a name.

Your very first post on this thread was rude and insulting.

I have stated that your position is motivated in part by cowardice or Yankee indoctrination...because I believe those things to be true.

That's rude and insulting, and unless you are a mind-reader, it's an unsupportable assumption.

I believe you are mistaking stridency and firmness of opinion for rudeness.

No, I'm not. It's rudeness, plain and simple.

Actually my mom died from cancer 3 months ago.

I'm truly sorry to hear that. Losing your mother would be a very hard thing.

My first post seems of the same kind as all my previous ones. I stand by that I have called no one a name. Just questioned their courage. My purpose is to provoke thought, not insult for the sake of insulting.

It certainly does not rank up there with "redneck goons" and trailer park and hambone cracks.

Today in Iraq they had an election and there were more than 100 parties on the ballot. And we are supposed to be teaching them about democracy. By your argument, we should have only let them have two parties on their ballot. Maybe the Iraqis need to come over here and show us how to have a fair election. Why is what is good for the goose not good for the gander?

Did you read all my posts while you were gone? I think I have them on the run. Thanks for the help. We have much work to do.

You know the saddest thing about all this is the fact that these guys who claim to be proud Southerners, are so obviously self loathing. One step above Morris Dees. I can't believe Southerners would use the term redneck in a derogatory way or make cracks about trailer parks or chewing tobacco or flaggots. We ought to be arguing about college football. (Georgia could have taken OU.) Instead they are arguing with the best, most honorable part of the South. Those people who still have that ol' Rebel fighting spirit.

You can really see their mind working. "I'm a Southerner because I like NASCAR." Or because "I happen to reside in Georgia." "But I'm not one of those types of Southerners. You know, those kind that actually care about the flag." It is sad. So very sad. I grow more discouraged every day. But I will never, never give up.

And you should thank God every night that Oklahoma doesn't have an Atlanta to contend with. When I move back to Georgia it sure as heck will not be to the Atlanta donut. In fact, I fully support the movement for the rest of Georgia to secede from Atlanta.

Take care buddy.

My purpose is to provoke thought, not insult for the sake of insulting.

If you can't think of a way to provoke thought without insulting people, you don't have either the manners or the intellect you think you have.

I don't see anyone here complaining about the "back room deal" that led to the flag change in 1956.

Bingo.

You're not in Iraq.

Iraq has more important things to vote on than an insignificant piece of cloth.

The REALITY of the situation is that you will either get the Democrat or the Republican. End of story. Make your choice.

Well I think this thread is mercifully winding down. I think if you piled up all the "insults" against the flaggers and all the "insults" against anti-flaggers, the insults against the flaggers would far outnumber the opposite.

I said my point was not to insult people just for the sake of insulting them. As some on this forum do. Not necessarily on this thread. I do believe that the subject of courage and caving in to PC is inseparable from this issue. If that bothers some of the anti-flaggers, then good. Maybe it will make them think or shame them into action.

I absolutely refuse to accept that my choices are limited to Social Democrat Party A and Slightly Less Social Democrat Party B. If that is OK with you fine. But don't fool yourself into believing that you are supporting the "conservative" party. You are not.

Once the economy absolutely tanks because the "conservative" Republicans can't get a handle on spending and the spiraling debt, you will be welcome to come join us in a real conservative party. And I promise I want say "I told you so."

Look, Red. I have been visiting this thread off and on for a couple of days. The 1956 flag was a stab at equality of the races. It shouldn't be an option. I'm just like you when it comes to the Confederate Battle Flag as it pertains to the liberty of a people. But that 1956 flag is shameful.

It was a stab for States Rights. If you are OK with the Battle Flag, why is the '56 flag shameful? I'm certainly not ashamed of it. I'm ashamed the Governor and Legislature caved. I also ashamed that my fellow Georgians and Southerners have bought the big lie.

I clicked on ALL the names of the people on this thread that voiced an opinion.

Of those who have pride enough in their state to fly the flag of Georgia, the breakdown is as follows:

Those in favor of the current flag:

Little ray
Condiarmy
Republican Red
Sprite518
deaconjim
jakkknife
tatze
lugsoul
Juana la Loca
higgmeister
groanup
amelia
eddie willers
.

Those in favor of the 1956 flag:

politicalmom

That's 13-1 of Georgians (who expressed an opinion) in favor of the new flag.

Now don't you feel just a little bit silly?
