Prayer vigil for the Iraqi elections

We invite and request your prayers every day this week for the Iraqi elections on Sunday. This is a pivotal event in World history, and a vitally important one for our country and administration as well. Please pray for the safety of all those, including our brave military, who are putting themselves at risk to make this election happen.

Pray for a huge turnout, and that Iraqi voters are kept safe from those who would intimidate and frighten in order to perpetuate their evil.

I feel absolutely certain that our President is praying about this event and for his brave soldiers daily. While he probably would not choose to call publicly for prayer, I feel that he would be overjoyed and strengthened to have Americans and people of faith all over the world join him in this.

Thank you for posting Reverend Caldwell's prayer. I have longed to have it and had asked for it. You provided the answer to my prayer.

I want to be able to "Amen" it day by day. I felt it was more sterling than anything else that I saw that day.

Reverend Caldwell's prayer was inspired in my opinion, Spirited. What he said and the way he said it were just so right and so much brought up out of grassroots America. I loved it.

I, too, will join in this prayer, in the midst of my own personal stuff. Noble causes should be supported in this fashion ... And all of us who read the Bible know who will win the inevitable triumph. We also know the evil one can do a lot of damage on his way down.

A Prayer for Iraqi National Elections

That

Will Help Bring Our Troops Home

0 God, we acknowledge yon today as Lord,
Not only of individuals, but of nations and governments.
We thank you for the privilege
Of being able to organize ourselves politically
And of knowing that political loyalty
Does not have to mean disloyalty to you.
We thank you for your law,
Which our Founding Fathers acknowledged
We thank you for the opportunity that this
election year puts before us,
To exercise our solemn duty not only to vote,
But to influence countless others to vote,
And to vote correctly.
Lord, we pray that your people may be awakened.
Let them realize that while politics is not their salvation,
Their response to you requires that they be politically active.
Awaken your people to know that they are
not called to be a sect fleeing the world
But rather a community of faith renewing the world.
Awaken them that the same hands lifted up to you in prayer
Are the hands that pull the lever in the voting booth;
That the same eyes that read your Word
Are the eyes that read the names on the ballot,
And that they do not cease to be Christians
When they enter the voting booth.
Awaken your people to a commitment to justice
To the sanctity of marriage and the family,
To the dignity of each individual human life,
And to the truth that human rights
begin when human lives begin,
And not one moment later.
Lord, we rejoice today That we are citizens of your kingdom.

Our Merciful Savior, we Rejoice in Your Mercies to the sons of Mankind, that You would Grant this People to Go Forth in Freedom and Democracy, through Grace. Cover our Military and the Iraqi people with a Divine Blanket of Protection, Hindering and Thwarting the Actions of sinful men. I have been praying and will continue to do so. I try to be good and do good things. I support the President who is in support of public praying, who is against abortion, who is against human stem cell research, who wants the Iraq people to be free to vote.

Prayers for our troops delivering voting machines and watching over polling places. Dear Lord, watch over every brave member of the armed services therre and over private contractors who are helping in this great effort. May the Iraqi people rally to elect a new democratic government that will bring them out of decades of tyrany. May all be safe in that country, especially at this time when the enemy is attacking, may peace and prosperity flood the land, and may the people gain the inspiration of hope and the strength of freedom. Lord, we come before Your throne of Grace, asking for Your blessings on the people of Iraq as they prepare for the upcoming election. Bind the hands of satan as he seeks to disrupt or even prevent this important event; thwart the efforts of the forces of darkness. Watch over the citizens of Iraq and also over the sons and daughters of America who fight for the freedom of those people long-oppressed. Let the people choose their new leaders wisely and lead the new officials to establish a government that will bring liberty and justice to all. Amen.
