If there are going to be same day registrants, the minimum
requirements should be:

1) Require photo I.D.
2) Each same-day registrant must also provide a COPY
of their I.D. to be attached to the registration form.
3) Their ballots should be treated the sane as provisionals until
elections workers can check for double voting and/or
invalid addresses, felons, etc.

I'm sure there are more. I was going to include proof of citizenship, but that's a bigger problem than just same-day registrants.

Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle has vetoed the photo identification requirement and says he will do so again. It is opposed by many Democrats, including Barrett, who say it could become an impediment to voting for some.

Democrats do understand they get elected because of fraud.

Im in Wisconsin. I E-mailed my rat Governor Jim Doyle and called my state Senator and Assembly person who both are Republican to stick out their neck and address this fraud.

The problem is twofold: Proving that the person is an eligible voter, and proving that the warm body standing in front of the desk is that person.

I don't have any foolproof answers to either problem.

I like your suggestion regarding same-day registration votes.

ANYONE notice that the party affiliation is (NEVER) mentioned? Why is that? Maybe if it was mentioned openly, it would be more significant information to be passed on to the public. If the people who did commit fraud were published in the papers it would also stop future fraud.

Then again - when did politicians or the press ever deal with facts truth. They always seem to skit the issues and (Wink Wink) ignore the problems.

Who says there's a right to vote? The Constitution doesn't say that there's a right to vote. The only Constituional issue is that all potential voters be treated equally. There's no reason why a State can't require certain proofs of potential voters.

Proving that the person is an eligible voter, and proving that the warm body standing in front of the desk is that person.

Easy. Here in Alabama we have to show I.D. to register and then again at the polls on election day.

I should also note that our ballots:voters tally is 100% accurate in every election. That's because each precinct has to balance their tally BEFORE submitting it to the state. And reps from each party are present at each precinct tally. Bottom line: no "inexplicable" variances.

We did have a glitch in the last guv's race where a precinct sent in some numbers that didn't balance. But a) it was caught immediately and b) they found the error within hours. We didn't have any elections officials telling us it was a "tolerable difference".

"The Republicans need to expose this and get the laws set up so that Rats cannot steal the election."

Exactly. Let's have a campaign to stop vote fraud.

Send to the FBI, and assure those who are caught will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

One little problem. It sounds like many of these were fake names, so there's no one to be embarassed.

As far as publishing party I.D., that wouldn't help either. Assume the Rats are determined to commit fraud. They would simply put "R" on their registration forms (and then vote Rat in secret). Thus, the revelation of party would be potentially embarrassing to the GOP: a double win for the Rat team.

I emailed Doyle also (and contacted my reps), but all I got back from Doyle was an automated email saying he doesn't respond to emails.
I will be writing a letter this afternoon.

He said the investigation should be done by an outside entity, not a task force such as the one appointed by Mayor Tom Barrett that includes only city employees

Absolutly, not city employees, bring in the FBI.

In Wisconsin, if you register to vote and don't have any valid proof of residency (recent utility bill, copy of lease or mortgage, or any of a dozen easily accessible pieces of paper), another registered voter can vouch for you. So, if your friend has proof and registers on that day, your friend can vouch for your residency. How flimsy is that????

I don't have any foolproof answers to either problem.

You don't need "foolproof". You just need common sense measures that reduce fraud to the point where 99% of elections are clean. Now for the really close ones like in Washington state, the dems will steal those, but we can live with a few stolen close elections. We do need some easy common sense stuff like showing photo id to keep most elections clean.

city voter rolls as non-existent, including vacant lots, a billboard and a gyros stand.

What if they are really good gyros and you go there three times a day? I'm trying out my LibLogic thinking cap.
