I had a feeling that Passion would get a nod for cinematography. I didn't think they could snub that...the movie was too beautifully done. Music score is nice to see as well. Make-up was a complete surprise.
Nothing for TEAM AMERICA???? I guess we will have to wait for the MTV awards to see those.
Art-house afficianados climbed all over it because it showed a segment of the human experience that impacts us (illegal immigration and life in the countries from which people flee) but that we cannot experience personally. I'm glad to see film coming out of any unfamiliar corner but I was disappointed and less than impressed by this one.
I found it pretty gripping. It's a case of not trying to do too much...but achieving everything you set out to do.

Silly, just silly.
That's what ther libs said about the Inauguration parties. Don't copy them.
Yeh and Sideways is perverted, Million Dollar Baby supports euthanasia, and the Aviator showcases Leo.
No bad acting....hated that movie.
And a note on how these Hollywood concept theft things work...If even only one line is the same in both scripts the case is won. A playwrite successfully sued Spielberg for ET. Her one act play contained the line "ET phone home". Art Buchwald won $600k from the producers of Eddie Murphy's Coming to America on the basis of a one line idea he had written ten years earlier. The line was (paraphrase) Young African Prince comes to New York.
He's a useful idiot who's outlived his usefulness.
I have one word for ya, Moore: Sucker!
Nearly every Christian on the planet will be watching the Passion over and over again every year during lent or Holy Week just before Easter. The movie is so powerful that faithful people can barely stand to watch the movie again because of the emotion it evokes and have chosen to watch it again only during a spiritual time such as lent. Most Catholics I know purchased the DVD when it came out and have not watched it becuase they are waiting to view it again on Good Friday. The film has such emotion and power and the timing of the awards just prior to Holy week this year will further alienate christians from hollywood and the crap they produce that few will go see. This will further drive more money into films such as the Passion and away from the vile and corrupt studios system.
Showcasing Leo is automatically bad? He's the titular character and was very good. How was Sideways perverted? Characters aren't always admirable.
Y'know how they said Moore's picture couldn't be considered if it ran on free TV? (heh..guess he should have done that..or did he and I missed it..anyway..) Is that rule because they're making darn sure all made-for-TV stuff never weeds its way in, or is it just a cynical ploy to squeeze the most cash out of the moviegoing public before the yearly awards?
Interesting.
If the film makers in Hollywood are so brilliant and creative they would come up with stuff that has never be seen before. And that, for the most part, doesn't happen.
You are then, of course, familiar with the movie The Player.
And BTW- Dark Lady of the Sonnets is a play by George Bernard Shaw. Has he had many movies produced in Hollywood??? I didn't realize he was a Hollywood movie producer at all.
The Player was a satire showcasing the industry at its worst. You obviously don't like and/or see many movies so why argue about them.
What an incisive comment. Kudos! :o)

Where did I say that? I didn't. I explained without, editorializing, how things work. I am surprised to see that you fall into that category of freeper who avoids questions by putting words into other's statements that were not there.
I'd ask again for you to name the films that SIL ripped off but I suspect it would be a waste of time so I won't.
