The acadamy just snubbed one of the best motion pictures ever filmed by their token nominations for the Passion of The Christ. The picture should without doubt have had nominations for best film, best male and female actors, best supporting actors, best direction, best set and costume, as well as the cinematography that was nominated. No film in its time has so moved so many people with such an enormous impact on their lives through the act of film making as the POTC did and to not be recognized for it shows the contempt and bias of those that are allowed to vote for the nominations. The oscar is as hollow and shallow and lifeless as those empty and souless people that vote and pick the nominations.

Nearly every Christian on the planet will be watching the Passion over and over again every year during lent or Holy Week just before Easter. The movie is so powerful that faithful people can barely stand to watch the movie again because of the emotion it evokes and have chosen to watch it again only during a spiritual time such as lent. Most Catholics I know purchased the DVD when it came out and have not watched it becuase they are waiting to view it again on Good Friday. The film has such emotion and power and the timing of the awards just prior to Holy week this year will further alienate christians from hollywood and the crap they produce that few will go see. This will further drive more money into films such as the Passion and away from the vile and corrupt studios system.

Most of the folks claiming to boycott Hollywood have been doing so (or making the claims that they are) for years and things have been fine. Don't overestimate yourself.

Hi Mat -

One might ask the "Hollywood Insiders" on this thread the last time the highest grossing non scifi/childrens' film was not nominated for best picture? How about never? (The answer may be "Twister" #38 all time gross, 1996 - I'm not sure of its gross at the time of nominations).

I'm no big time Christian - but I do not like prejudice in any form. The omission of POTC from Best Picture and other major awards is a clear example of religious discrimination. Personally I would not accept an award from a group that discriminates like this.

Diva's Husband -

Please - no responses from Hollywierd excuse makers, unless responding to the question of highest grossing non-nominee
