Yes folks, I know it's a couple of hours away, but for you loyal C-Span listeners, the debate will be carried live on C-Span 2 today. Live streaming on C-Span 2's server for those of you with high bandwidth carriers.
Box-o-Rox has asked for a full hour in which to call Dr. Rice a lying slut. Meantime, the senior Senator from the state of West Virginia has brought some friends of his down to testify to Rice's unfitness for her office:
Other Dhimmis have asked for time to object to Dr. Rice as well. Meantime, I wonder if McCain or Hagel will actually rise to her defense?
(...sound of crickets...)
Arlen Specter? Anybody?
Be Seeing You,
Chris
Perhaps Senator Biden was merely trying to sound like the "average guy" with his, "Hey, Boss" litany, however, it came across as crude race-baiting. Does Biden really think his goof on Doctor Rice represents your "average guy?"
"Hey, Mr. Boss-man, you dah Man, an' I'se just a little, uppity colored gal, an don't know nothin 'bout all this white people's stuff, so, 'Hey, Mr. Boss-man,' kin you tell me what to say to de Overseers up dere on da Hill, specially dat Mastah Biden, he bein' so nice an' tryin' real hard not to treat me like a mofo skank who's gettin' way above what he thinks my pay grade should be. Please, Mr. Boss-man?"
Doctor Rice, in her capacity as advisor to W, always addresses him as "Mr. President," as she did to W's father when he was president. For Biden to assume that "Hey, Boss..." would be the appropriate way for Doctor Rice to speak to the President of the United States, betrays not only Biden's cheapness and vulgarity, his low-class impudence, but also an indifference to the appearance of racial offense that borders on malice.
Four hours of "Sheets" Byrd, the Democrat's Conscience of the Senate, taking off after the "uppity colored gal" should be interesting.
"Ah have seen lots of white niggrahs; yes, I have. An now Ah'm see'in a high-yaller one an' as Ah wrote to a fellow Klansman aftuh Ah resigned from the Klan so Ah could better serve the Klan's mission in politics, the 'mongrelization of the white race by inbreeding with these ape-people will drag our country down, Ah say, down, down, down down. But Ah'm gonna take mah cue from mah honourable colleagues Senators Biden, Boxer, and Kerry, and pretend like this uppity gal is a real person, jus' like white folks."
Doctor Martin Luther King's "I have a dream," has devolved into the nightmare of another Dem lynching of a proud, independent, highly qualified black person.
Let the howling begin.
Doctor Rice, in her caqpacity
Having watched the dog and pony shows brought to us by the U.S. Senate...I am quickly (and irreversibly) losing respect for this "esteemed body".
Boxer has said she might talk for an hour all by herself in the media.
With few exceptions, the more important (or ground-breaking) the confirmation would be, the more likely it is that the Democrats will participate in SMearings.
This nuclear non-proliferation stuff is supposed to be one of Kerry's big deals. I wonder how he has voted on these things Lugar is talking about and how much input he proved in their creation. I think Lugar may be pulling at least one rug out from under Kerry with all of this.
Well, she did show up on CNN this morning with combed hair, so I'm guessing she's looking to speak for the whole 4 1/2 hours!
I'm thinking ever-ready Teddy won't show up - -as I understand it, he released a long statement to the press yesterday - -now he can watch it at home on TV, pop a few brewski's, and send in talking points via cell phone.
Good point.
I'm guessing Hillary! won't take the stage, either...Bill won't her.
Thanks for the information and links!
Lugar working on a good 35 minute snoozer..
As I explained, I consider the person and their pattern of behavior and speaking. Biden has a whole litany of bizarre phrasings he often employs ("Hey, man").
I have no doubt if somebody on our side let loose with that ridiculous stream of "Hey, Boss" directed to a black person, they, too, would be accused of racism.
I'm not saying Biden isn't racist...he may be. I'm saying this is not the clear cut evidence in and of itself. Arrogant and condescending and just plain silly, yes.
Maybe Byrd can just play spliced tapes of his old Senate speeches, today. I think he has already made comments that he can reuse for any occasion.
You got that right. I think he's trying to get a lot of points in about all the great things Condi and the Prez are doing on the foreign front, the problem is, I don't think anyone is listening (they've all nodded off)
For twenty years, the Senator [Kerry] has embraced a succession of hare-brained initiatives including the "nuclear freeze," cuts in American nuclear programs and their delivery systems and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. Fortunately, his positions have been consistently rejected by a majority of his colleagues. (Not surprisingly, Sen. Kerry rated a "zero" in the Center for Security Policy's just-released National Security Scorecard.)

Lugar thanking all 18 Senators who participated in the Smearings.
Truer words were never spoken.
Kennedy up, wants changes in time for different Democrats to talk.
