Biden Says He Is Leaning Against Gonzales Confirmation

WASHINGTON - Sen. Joseph Biden, a senior Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, said Sunday he was leaning against confirmation of Alberto Gonzales, President Bush's choice to be the next attorney general.

Bush's choice of his White House counsel to be the nation's top lawman, "may very well do us more harm internationally because of its relationship with the terror memos," the senator from Delaware said on the ABC News program "This Week."

"My inclination right now is to vote against him," Biden said. He is the third ranking Democrat on the panel.

Last week, the Senate Judiciary Committee postponed a vote on Gonzales' nomination after Democrats charged he had evaded their questions about Bush administration policies on the treatment of prisoners captured during U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has been criticized for his role in shaping those policies.

Since gonzales is anti-2nd Amendment, I'd be against him too.

If the Democrats are going to grand-stand against every nominee for any office... why don't the Republicans in congress just roll right over them?

Personally, I would like to see Republicans take out ads "calling Democrats as racists" in various selected newspapers and 1-minute sound bytes in Spanish Language radio stations, in the home territories of Democrats opposing Gonzales Confirmation.

Since the Dem's never hesitate to "play the race card," I would like to see it played against them.

P.S. I would also like to see some similar adds aimed at those that hassled Condi Rice in her confirmation hearings.

I saw this camera hound saying this today and, aside from my seeing his performance as being yet another attempt to grab some air time, I had the reaction 'So What'.

FB - I think that is a safe statement on his part because no such bill will get off the floor by either DeLay or Frist. GWB said the same thing in the 2000 election and it meant nothing.

Watch all the '08 wannabees dive left, except for Billary which will hog the center and win the nomination going away.

It's in the rules that the dems can delay a nomination for a week.

BFD, IMO, Gonzales, Rice(etc.etc.) will be confirmed.

This just gives the Dummies(the base of the democrat party)and mainstream media a reason to think they're relavant somehow.
