All systems are go for the D.C. Chapter's American Sector on the Inaugural Parade route.
The weather is cold, but warmer than the past few days. The sun is peaking through the clouds. Snow covers the sidewalks, but Pennsylvania Avenue has been cleared.
The barricades are up everywhere. Small groups of people are walking around checking things out.
I did a recon last night with BufordP after the Freeper dinner. ANSWER has their bleachers set up on John Marshall Plaza at the starting point for the parade at 4th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. They also have a stage and speaker risers right on the sidewalk at Pennsylvania Ave.
For all their wailing about the Presidential Inaugural Committee denying the public access to the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Ave., ANSWER has taken up most of the sidewalk space themselves with their stage and sound equipment, thereby denying their own people access to the sidewalk on Pennsylvania Ave. I hope the courts take that hypocriscy into account if their case is appealed.
Snow covered most of the American Sector last night. For those not sure where we'll be today, here's the info:
The northeast corner of 7th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Look for Freepers wearing white Pajama Patrol badge t-shirts with the word 'Marshal' in red letters on the back.
We'll be there from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. We'll have a rally from 10:30 to 11:30. After that, we'll line the parade route in our permitted area on the same block, just a few feet down on the north side of the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
We'll be calling in updates throughout the day.
Tell them we said WOOOHOOOOO! and we're awed by their determination. I confess I'm happy to be sitting in my study with warm feet :-).
Me too. I'm always thankful for those who stand in for us as we abide in our warm cozy homes. That goes for all large public gatherings such as football games too.
I had to put some water on the stove to make tea ... not warm enough yet :-).
Neither heat nor cold nor long lines nor howling leftist moonbats stops the D.C. Chapter. They're my idols!
I'm ticked because I have to go out to a meeting right at noon. I can't believe I scheduled a meeting for today. What was I thinking?
I'll catch the video on Fox News website later. I hope we'll get links if any of our FReepers makes the news!
Dubya: "Fellow citizens!" That's me! :^D
Doh! I hit the wrong link. I thought this was the breaking LIVE thread. haha! :^)
On Scene Report Number Three:
Kristinn just cleared security. He was held up for about 15 minutes because he was carrying a bullhorn, for which he had a written permit. He very politely asked to speak to a supervisor and pointed out that as of last night the other side had a full sound system set up at 4th & Penn, and that we only want one little bull horn for which we have a permit, and he was finally OKd.
Because of these delays theyve given up their plans for a morning rally. All the bleachers are still almost empty.
I passed along your messages of support and he says Thank You!
Hope we get to see them on TV and not just the lousy leftys!
SAHM, Thank you for the reports.
Thanks for the report! I hope Kristinn gets to make good use of the bullhorn.
I feel as if I'm part of something big, even though I'm not doing anything :-).
I'm checking this thread while I watch the proceedings on tv. I also have another window open that shows the view from the traffic cam. Thank you for the reports. You do have people watching and waiting.
We have been a part of this "something big". It would have been great if we could have tagged along with Tax Relief and Huber. Do you know if any others from NC who went up for the festivities?
No, I don't remember any other names of NC attendees, although I'm sure there are some. Maybe a full roster will be put up in the next few days.
I'm letting the VCR tape this so I can watch it again later. I'm sooooo glad that it ended up that I was off from work today. I've tried using two computers at once and nearly drove myself crazy. LOL!!!
