To hear CBS tell it the whole parade route is beseiged by protestors.

It was. It was almost 50% protesters.

I must of walked ten miles.....from one check point to another. We got thru the security tent at 14th St, but found we were in the wrong section.
Went down to 7th Ave. Saw all the protesters there....went down to 3rd Ave. couldn't get in....so went on down to First Ave. And there were several thousand people trying to get thru security.....and thousands more just leaving the scene.
At that point we were cold, tired and hurting, so we went back to the hotel, showered, had some lunch and watched the parade on TV. (Completely missed the swearing in)

C-Span is showing the Inauguration today at 10AM.

We had a great time at the Ball. And the travel home was excellent.

Pajama Patrol? That's really cute! For a minute I didn't think of the reference to the people who saw through the "National Guard memos", and reported them. Then they were mockingly described as people in their pajamas, and sitting on the internet all day(or something like that anyway!).

But of course, it was due to these 'blog people' that were credited for stopping this sham! Otherwise, they(CBS, Dan Rather, Kerry campaign people, etc..) would've gotten away with it for a lot longer; and our President might not have won! Thank Heavens for these blog people from this site and others!

I made a crowd estimate where I was and what I saw go by later.

Been countin crowds since 1999 when I started Freeping, got somewhat good at it! :)

"It was almost 50% protesters"

How many times did they comment that the stands were not filled.
Is it any wonder why? We couldn't get in!

You must have been on the other side of the street when the cops did the sectioning off. I was just so mad and even told them it was unfair to punish spectators because of the anaridiots.

I watched from an office in the 1200 block. One of our guests said that the anarchists were holding up the security checks because they were carrying things they weren't allowed to have.

This held up the line.

Also, if you have kids with you, you really can't risk having them get caught in something like this mob.

About the same. The thousands of protestors really screwed things up. Had a wonderful trip though....

I just wish I could have made it down there. Every time I think about it, I almost start crying. We were so close. If it weren't for those freaks and kooks, we could have safely made it to the section and enjoyed the parade. I'm very disappointed and upset and would be more optimistic and pleasant about missing out if I could say, "there’s always the next time", but there won't be a next time to watch an inaugural parade for George Bush. When I went back to the hotel to catch the parade on T.V., I caught about 5 minutes of it before the cable went out. *sigh* It just wasn’t meant to be.

Mr. Buzzcut was my hero for trying to help us get there. He should get FReeper of the Year award for trying so hard to help a “damsel with 4 kids in the middle of protestor hell distress”. What a nightmare. ((((Mr. Buzzcut)))) Thank you so much. It really meant a lot to me.

I’m happy for everyone else who was able to enjoy the parade. Jen, I’ll help you scrap your memories. :) (((NHH)))

It was like "The Poseidon Adventure" ... I was Gene Hackmann ... ;)

Unfortunately, we got separated and I couldn't find you ... sounds like a "Lifetime" movie of the week ... :)

At least your kids got to see real life Moonbats in the wild. That should help when their teachers/professors start spewing the same cliches as that dude wearing the feathered trilby!

I'm going to start crying again, but thank you so much. I just can't say it enough. You were so sweet and kind. Please tell your girlfriend hey for me and tell her to register at FR. :) It was lovely to meet the both of you.

Yeah, that was an "experience" of a lifetime. I'll never forget it. I hope the kids never forget it either. We lived through it! *whew* There were a few scary seconds there when I didn't think we would; I figured a moonbat would kill us or we would be crushed and trampled to death. There is nothing worse than being caught in a stew pot with a bunch of deranged freaks.
