Former President Jimmy Carter has been linked with a key figure in the U.N.'s oil-for-food scandal by the group leading the nationwide effort to evict the United Nations from American soil and halt U.S. funding of the U.N.

(Gorbachev currently heads the Gorbachev Foundation, a Moscow-based think tank.) Ritter said, "When Carter first heard of it he indicated support. Then he decided as a former president he could not make the trip." However, once the plan became public, Carter planned on announcing his support of it, Ritter said.
Carter told AIM via a spokesman, "No such trip was planned," and cited travel and schedule considerations as reason to decline further comment."

who is co-operating in hopes of a plea bargain.
He was an unregistered lobbyist for the Iraqi government
he received money and passed money

and has named a 'high UN official'
who received a very large bribe in 1996.
This is the first time on record
of another high ranking UN official
(the first was Benon Savan)
receiving a bribe.
(This official could not be Benon Savan
who did not join the Oil for Food Program until 1997)
Mark Melloch-Brown (sp?) of the UN just a day before
made a statement said that there is trouble coming
and there will be a major overhaul of the upper echelons
of the UN.
The grand jury also is investigating Kofi Annan's son, Kojo.
Expect lots of new developments soon.

'OIL' FEDS QUIZ KEMP

January 20, 2005 -- WASHINGTON — Former Republican vice-presidential candidate and New York Congressman Jack Kemp has been questioned by the FBI in the U.N. oil-for-food scandal, it was revealed last night. Newsweek magazine reported on its Web site that the ex-Buffalo Bills quarterback faces scrutiny about his dealings with Virginia-based oil trader Samir Vincent, who earlier this week became the first figure to be formally charged with criminal wrongdoing in the $21.3 billion global scandal. The magazine identified Kemp as the former senior U.S. government official whom the feds said Vincent contacted on behalf of Saddam Hussein in an attempt to weaken and repeal sanctions on Iraq
I hope some FReepers/Protest Warriors are making some modifications to their signs for tomorrow that read something about this. Something like, "Investigate Carter's connections to Oil-for-food"
