I just heard that Indonesia does not want any foreign military on their soil and requires that we pull out by March. Why wait? Why continue our aid efforts at all? Ingrates.

Being the biggest muslim nation on earth I am sure jihadists are as common there as cockroaches (and no doubt jihadists in power there too).

People should generally only comment on countries where they actually know something about the country they're talking about.

With regards to Indonesia, you clearly do not.

But the culpability would be on the government of Indonesia...

...and on the Satanic "religion" of Islam...

Think U.S.S. Cole, where they had our brave men and women manning guns with no bullets in them and terrorist monkeys coming along side the ship with tons of explosives in a boat.

We'll never win the war on terror with an idiot for a leader.

So... we should just be wasting whole boats full of people as we enter port when those boats get within some x-number of yards to a ship of the line? Yah... swift move Einstein.

Oh... and the "idiot for a leader" you are talking about was Clinton, right?

<< 272,000 Dead in Indonesia? >>

Let's put that opportunistic claim into a little better perspective, shall we?

For example:

Two and a half million Africans died in 2004 from the diseases -- including that of "Born African" -- that continent's Looter Industries have rounded up under "AIDS" and;

Last year, also, another two and a half million died about the globe as the consequnce of poor hygene and;

In 2004 another three hundred and fifty thousand Americans died from Alcoholism and;

While he stood by, several million Africans and Europeans died while under the protection of Koffi Annan's agency BEFORE that smarmy prick was promoted to Hailie Selassie understudy and un secretary-corporal -- or whatever the Hell he's called these days and;

Six weeks ago the gummint of the string of brutally-repressed colonies the Javanese call "indonesia" would have paid a Twenty Dollar per head bounty to anyone who could slaughter that many Banda Acehens!

As a born again Christian, and one who believes in G-d completely and unreservedly...

I still say beware fundamentalism and theocracy in all of its forms. Nothing is scarier than a man who can be made to believe he's carrying out G-d's bidding by another man.

Even Christianity at one point worshipped at the broken altar of fundamentalism.

I'm not sure I believe this. I think it is probably closer to 271,000. 271,524 tops.

I'm not trying to make light of the casualties. Rather, I'm making light of those authoritatively tossing out numbers. Where the heck did the 2,000 come from?

Good post.

Just a couple of comments.

The Indoensian Government sorely needs to take some lessons in diplomacy and gratitude, especially one Jusuf Kalla, the vice President. That said, I think that the cruz of his comments aren't far off the mark, and that is that after two or three months of immeidate relief where our logistic supremacy can be put to good use, longer term, they need engineers, road builders, and loans, not soldiers.

True enough, but...

Right now the Indonesians are coming across as craven ingrates. I'm very sure that isn't true, but it is the unmistakable impression that they give, especially the government. It certainly isn't true for the people on the ground in Aceh. They are kiss-the-ground-at-our-feet grateful, and I think that is resented just a bit by the folks in Jakarta.

Indonesians are resourceful and hard working. Once things have been stabilized they will be pretty mcu able to take care of themselves. We wouldn't want French tropps hanging around Florida for two years after a hurricane, either.

Achenese actually like Americans. In four years there, I never had a harsh word spoken against me. The Acehnese follow a kind of folk Islam that has little in common with the Saudi "Wahabbi" variety that has been responsible for so much blood and mayhem over the past several years.

All you have to do is take a look at the response of the local to our presence. It is hugely popular.

I doubt the Acehnese are nearly as hospitible to the "Laskar Muhjahideen" and "Islamic Defender Front" jackasses from Java with their holier-than-thou line of crap.

To add to that, the Indonesian Government have been
on an extermination program for their non-muslim
minorities for years...remember that the million
"communists" slaughtered by Sukarno where in fact
Christians and others.

The Acehnese dishtinguished themselves by
being even far more genocidal than the worst
of the government, to the point of declaring
independence for the sole reason of establishing
an extremist Sharia in Aceh that even Bin Laden and
the Taliban would be ashamed of.

The Christians was an important minority in Aceh
and they have all but disappeared, murdered or
forcibly converted and all the churches have been
destroyed but for a few token ones here and there.

The aid workers in Aceh suffer from near criminal
ignorance and stupidity and their near fate is
nothing else but beneficial gene pool cleansing.

The Buddhist scriptures often berate those so-called
"wise men" that would venture naked in a tiger infested
jungle as reducing themselves to the level of
carnivore food. Bunch a Gandhians, matter of fact!

Here's the disgustingly ugly
naked fakir, as Churchill called him,
responsible for 100 millions deaths
at India's partition

Beuark!!!

"The U.N. population control freaks must be ecstatic."

No doubt. Frees up a lot of condoms they can now distribute to other nonwhite countries, like in Africa.

I doubt that -- the Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia very early on stated that the deaths in Sumatra could reach 400,000 . When you look at the size of the population in the province of Aceh (at least 3.9 million with nearly 40 million on the entire island of Sumatra) AND you realize that much of it was located directly on the coast (and in the path of the tsunami) AND you realize that there was only minutes between the quake and the wave, it becomes clear that the estimates so far have been grossly below reality.

Of course, the govt. will follow Islamic tradition and pretend that the problem is solved so that they can save face. Pathetic and typical.

Besides, once they have the roads repaired, they'll want to kick out the Westerners so they can finish the fight with the Islamofascists. My guess is that any survivors of the tsunami who stay in Aceh will not survive the upcoming fight.

Like a child support payment...NO Accountability to where the funds are applied. So, how much of this aid will be skimmed off to finance or aid muslim extremists?

I'm not aware of any model that is allocating flights of aid supplies based on the reported death toll. There are people on the ground in the various locations that know what sort of stuff is needed. Needs are being assessed and supplies are being delivered accordingly, as swiftly as can be done?

What is so gawdawful wrong with that? Does this process need more armchair quarterbacks or not?

>>Their Governments are not more corrupt than ours is!<<

Come on Radix....where is your sense of perspective. Hundreds of thousands homeless and suffering in Indonesia, and their government is wants US soldiers to distribute aid unarmed when there is a civil war going on.

What the Indonesian government wants it for all in rebel held areas to die.....got that....die!

And you call us more corrupt than that?...I would be interested if you can come up with any specifics or if you just hate the the nation you call home.

Selfless Americans are giving aid in unprecedented amounts with a huge expenditure of military resources to deliver the aid.....and you have the balls to call us corrupt?

Your a sick puppy...or didn't I "understand" your drift? Care to try to explain yourself?

We belong to the same Carpenter!

As far as I can see, we are in 100% agreement -- especially concerning the risks of fundamentalism..

If you are concerned about my comment re Islam, consider this:

I have heard Mullahs vehemently state that Allah and the G-d of Moses, Abraham and Isaac, (and the Father of Jesus) are not one and the same. Based on that -- and what I can observe of Koranic teachings and actions -- I have been forced to conclude that "Allah" is nothing more or less than the most successful persona of Lucifer.

OTOH, if we had time to talk about things like cosmology, I daresay you would hardly find me to be a "fundamentalist"...

"They want us OUT. The sooner, the better they say. I can't help but agree."

So do I.

Do not be surprised when you hear that thousands of these people will be allowed to migrate to the States.

"Care to try to explain yourself?"

I suppose that I do tend to be cynical at times.

Please excuse, I have Ted Kennedy and John Kerry as my Senators.

I admit that I had not before this week read "Unfit for Command." I am almost finished with it now. Kerry's actions over the last three decades are simply unforgivable.

I do not hate this nation. I have served, and I am close to others who also served, and still actively do.

I did not call "us" corrupt, but as I read this book I am completely confounded that such a one as John Kerry could weasel his way into one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. That man is simply unworthy. He should be expelled from that body.

Not much of an excuse, but give me more time. I can provide more data for my opinions.

In addition to being ordered to leave by end of March, I heard tonight where the US Military agreed to not carry weapons. This is an al Qaeda trap for US troops. They are in Indonesia and would love to hurt the US Military.

Maybe we should tell the Indonesian government that we are sorry for the intrusion and extract the troops tomorrow, scratch that, remove them tonight.

"The worst disaster in the last 300 years."

Maybe one of the worst natural disasters, but, remember that WW2 killed over THIRTY TIMES that number!
