Sorry that so many of us, myself included, have been so cavalier about the loss of life.

We can barely comprehend the numbers of lives lost.

My apologies.

I understand, but realistically... how would the small arms of the soldiers/sailors in Lebanon/Cole have changed the outcome? They were blown up by surprise. In the case of the Cole... in a bay full of small boats floating all around... how were they to know that this one boat was loaded with explosives and was about to blow? Until the very last second there wasn't anything to shoot at.

Think U.S.S. Cole, where they had our brave men and women manning guns with no bullets in them and terrorist monkeys coming along side the ship with tons of explosives in a boat.

We'll never win the war on terror with an idiot for a leader.

A nation can be measured by the leaders we have in charge. Right now I'd say we're a nation of 'compassionate conservative weenies'.

Looks to me like they dont need our aid money anymore since they are already dead. The government was going to spend my money anyway so they can just add it to my next refund.

"But those Governments are so corrupt it would not suprise me."

Their Governments are not more corrupt than ours is!

It is a matter of perspective!

ut those Governments are so corrupt it would not suprise me.

Indoneasia is in general not such a trustworthy country. Being the biggest muslim nation on earth I am sure jihadists are as common there as cockroaches (and no doubt jihadists in power there too). In addition to that they are in the middle of a civil war. Just recently they forbade armed troops. Why? well because they cannot accept the fact that their terrorist buddies would get shot.

A picket line should have been formed around the USS Cole.

No boats NO BOATS within the perimeter.

Slick willie was trying to show how nice we were.

So first, we ought not to have been in that port.

If we were going to be in the port we had to have it our way.

Our enemies know we will not shoot to kill.

Does the hysterical reaction to women's panties on the heads of terrorists tell you what message we are sending to our enemies.

Sadly, you are right. We are too afraid of public opinion to save ourselves.

G-d help us.

NO WAY our troops should stay there unless they're armed. There could be a massacre or large-scale capture if they do.

I agree. OVER MY DEAD BODY WOULD I EVER GIVE UP MY GUN. This is what the US military should say to them.

I'm not a fan of Hannity and Clomes but I saw their Mideast blame game adds which of course are anti-U.S.. I had to laugh. It looked like a Saturday Night Live spoof! How they were dressed, their faces, their message and the background looked just like a Saturday Night Live skit. It was hilarious.

Sometimes there are bona fide disasters of epic proportions, and this is one of those times.

I Agree; prayers for the survivors – and the victims.

I don't quibble with the argument that U.S. boats shouldn't have been pulling into Yemen. No argument here.

But, your point that there should have been some sort of perimeter set up around the ship is, IMHO, strictly hindsight. Naval ships have been pulling in to busy ports since the dawn of time, and never has it ever been standard practice to fire on natives that come within some hundreds of yards to the ship.

Not the worst disaster in 300 years. Bangladesh floods killed over 300,000 in 1976. Chinese earthquake in the 70's killed upto 655,000 depending on whose estimate you beleive. The Chinese government claimed 225,000. Flooding of the Yangtze river in 1931 killed around 3 million.
