OK! I give up! At the risk of being told that I'm wasting everyones time here. Can someone please tell me W.I.T.H. a "ZOT" is and what is the significance of the kittens/cats that seem to be mandatorily displayed with any discussion of a zot?

Severe Troll Alert from scott7278
...TROLL ALERT SCOTT7278 MO 1057 AM CDT TUE JANUARY 11 2004
...SCOTT7278 HAS ISSUED A SEVERE TROLL ALERT...IN EFFECT UNTIL THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN ELIMINATED. THIS WARNING IS INTENDED FOR FREEREPUBLIC.COM...
AT THIS HOUR...
THERE HAS BEEN TROLL ACTIVITY SPOTTED ON FREEREPUBLIC.COM. AN EMERGENCY TROLL WARNING HAS BEEN ACTIVATED FOR THE ENTIRE READING AND BROWSING AREA.
AN EMERGENCY TROLL WARNING MEANS THAT A TROLL HAS LEFT DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND AND IS CURRENTLY ON FREEREPUBLIC.COM. HE MAY BE POSING AS A CONSERVATIVE, OR HE MAY GO STRAIGHT INTO A RANT. HE MAY INQUIRE ABOUT THE POWER OF ZOT, OR EVEN PRETEND THAT HE OR SHE DOES NOT KNOW WHAT A ZOT IS. EVEN THE MOST PEACEFUL TROLL MAY SUDDENLY BECOME FEROCIOUS WITHOUT WARNING OR PROVOCATION.
SOMETIMES THEY SIGN UP FOR A NEW ACCOUNT WITH A NUMERAL ADDED TO THE END OF THEIR FORMERLY ZOTTED NAME. SOMETIMES THEY CHOOSE FREEPER-FRIENDLY NAMES, AND POST FREEPER-FRIENDLY INFORMATION ON THEIR PROFILE PAGE. HOWEVER, YOU WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR POSTS.
IF YOU ENCOUNTER A TROLL, YOU MAY PLAYFULLY POUNCE BEFORE CALLING UPON THE VIKING KITTIES AND/OR THE POWER OF ZOT. ALTHOUGH TROLLS ARE ULTIMATELY HARMLESS, THIS WARNING HAS BEEN DEEMED NECESSARY FOR HUMOR'S SAKE.

In answer to your questions, I believe the ZOT! is a cartoon word often accompanying lightning bolts, and the kittens...?
I don't know, but a little pussy never hurt anybody!
