Many of us native Texans like smaller dogs. I've had bigger dogs. Matter of fact, I still visit and act as baby-sitter, when needed, for the big dog my ex and I had while we were married. When we were married our big dog weighed 110 lbs without an ounce of fat on her. She's gained a few pounds since then.

She's a pit, german shepherd, lab and other mix but training from an early age means she's easily controlled. Even to this day (after 5 years) I can stop her in her tracks by the tone of my voice and the command I give her. That's a good thing since she weighs more than I do.

I have a rat terrier-benjii look alike mutt who's about the size of my biggest cat and weighs 12 pounds. He can be as intimidating in manner as our big dog was due to her size. The difference is, I can pick him up. At times his terrier part shows up and he can be a stubborn little cuss.

In the future we'll have a bigger dog when we have a fenced yard. My fiance wants either a wiemereimer (sp?) or a boxer. We'll get a puppy and I'll use the same method of training it as I did with my other big dog baby.

So does the (R) after Miss Beazley's name mean that she's in the right of the picture or that she's a Republican? : )

I have a Husky-unknown mix big dog and he is great! The only problem is that he can jump our 5-foot fence with ease.

Awww, what an adorable puppy!

Scotties are precious but I don't think I'd trust any terrier around cats. We're looking at beagles or labs once we have a house with a yard.

If I were President, I'd definitely have a pair of beagles. Although, is that too LBJ-esque? ;-)

"You'd think that being from Texas they'd be a big dog couple..."

Picture the President of the United States carrying a stupid dog around under his arm the size of a Great Dane or a German Shepherd or a Bull Mastiff and so on!

What would be more appropriate and fit his political posture at this juncture of his Presidency than a Hairless Mexican Chihuahua!

Ugly but appropriate!

>>Now that is a Dawg! :-)

"Dixie" is almost 1 year old in that pic, and had gotten hold of a tube of mom's lipstick. Nobody saw her for 2-3 minutes, which was time enough to destroy the carpet in the den. Ah well, at least I got a funny picture out of the deal. :)

I wondered about those red lips, animals are funny, but I bet the lipstick on the carpet wasn't.
