The 10-week-old Scottish terrier pup was the president's 58th birthday gift to the first lady and is related to the Bush's other terrier, Barney, whose half-brother is Miss Beazley's father.

The new pet was named after Uncle Beazley, the dinosaur in Oliver Butterworth's children's book, "The Enormous Egg."

Yeah, nothing like a cute little Puppy to make your day. Doesn't Laura look great, hard to believe she is 58.

You'd think that being from Texas they'd be a big dog couple...

Yes I agree. These terriers are very cute but I would have thought the president especially would like a pet who was a little bigger and more sporty, perhaps.

Yes, but when you think about it, they will be living four more years at the White House, and for Barney and Miss Beazley, that is 28 dog years.

Now imagine Terrazzzza in the White House with a puppy! She would be holding the pup out at arms length in the photos!

If you think the Bush's should be big dog people, what kind of dog do you think the Kerry-Heinz's would be?

I think the President prefers to "saddle up" his larger pets at the ranch and maybe round up a few bovines...

Fantastic pictures! Scotties are wonderful, and Barney and Miss Beazley make quite a pair! I'd say he has his work cut out for him.

Wow. I was just thinking when I read that, "Must be a typo. There is no way she can be 58."

What an absolutely beautiful woman. She has real class.

You obviously have never been owned by a Scottie.

I think they are a very good match for President Bush's independent feisty personality!

I agree, I prefer bigger dogs like a shepherd, or retriever. But to each their own.

I have a nice mutt, a shepherd-husky type mix. He's a cutie and very loyal. A good Republican dog! :)
