Eric Freeman RIP
Posted on 01/04/2005 8:57:52 PM PST by OneYoungConservative
Two years ago when the US first invaded Iraq, Brenda Freeman, and about fifteen of her close friends, went all around the city of Thousand Oaks, just 45 minutes outside of Los Angeles, and hung yellow ribbons along a couple streets to show support for her son who was a Marine in the 1st Expeditionary Force that had just crossed into Iraq.
Just hours later, city officials removed the thousands of ribbons hung around the city and brought them back to Brenda's house. In protest, she contacted the former Mayor Andy Fox, and got permission to rehang all of the yellow ribbons and more.
My dad and I, along with Brenda, Mayor Andy Fox, and about twenty other people hung thousands upon thousands of ribbons before the clock struck five o'clock that morning. Brenda made local and statewide newspapers, as well as local and statewide primetime news programs displaying her unwaivering desire to support her son and his comrades.
After serving two tours to Iraq, Eric returned home this past fall. He was here in time for elections and proudly displayed his "Veterans for Bush" sticker on his car.
On January 2nd, 2005, Eric and his friend were driving in San Bernadino, back to Twenty-nine Palms military base, when they got in a car accident. Eric was 20 when he died, and we're all shocked at the news.
Please pray for Eric and his family and remember that he was a brave soldier risking his life more times then I would ever know to keep his family, friends, and everyone safe back at home.

I'm sorry for the loss, which is a loss to us all, but specifically to those who were so close to him. I'm grateful that he had such caring people around him, and I hope that his family and friends are aware that his service was appreciated and we feel for them upon hearing this sad news.

Prayers for Eric and his family. Auto accidents are such shockers, especially after having been in a war zone. May God bless them all and hold them in the palm of his hand.
