President and Mrs. Bush, former Presidents Bush and Clinton visited the embassies of the nations hardest hit by the Asian quake and tsunami: Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand. He asked both (interestingly, Carter didn't make the list) to lead a nationwide charitable fund-raising effort for victims of the Asian tsunamis, through private contributions, non-governmental and international organizations. The White House's Freedom Corps, which helps facilitate volunteer efforts around the country, will assist the two former presidents in soliciting private contributions.
The president hosted a reception for new members elected to Congress and their spouses in the East Room; the swearing-in is tomorrow.
Alert: today's thread is laced with photos of The Impeached One. Other than that, enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
Great news Gretchen
Yep, they both write in chicken scratch!
That's right! I had forgotten about that!
My mistake. I knew it was either 80 or 85 because of his last birthday skydive.
As long as we can have popcorn!
Can't have pop, though, because of the caffiene...but tea just doesn't go well with popcorn...
I love that photo of them. Thank for posting it.
Hey all -
I got something in the mail the other day that really surprised me. I got a Christmas card from the White House, and I've heard about the calendars, well Friday I got a long white envelope from the White House.
Inside was a 'handwritten' note from GWB. I'm sure it's copied in some way (I'd bet the real notes are saved for the big contributors), but I haven't heard of any one on the Dose talk about one of these thank you notes.
Anybody else get one of these? What's the deal?
Have you no caffine free fizzy pop
Jimmy Carter ought to be "relegated" permanently to a small squalid hut on a beach of some third world country that he shafted one way or another along the line.
Good evening all, thanks for the pix Gretchen it's nice to see the Pres and first Lady again.
Prairie
Thank you for posting the pictures and for the ping. Cspan has already replayed the appointment announcement of Bush 41 and Clinton 42 to this fundraiser position. But if they do what their email says, cspan will replay the meeting of the President with new members of Congress - at 9:20 PM ET tonight.
Who cares what those think outside the US and I know many who did not vote and none of them think Bush is dumb they just don't think voting does any good.
LOL!!!! Stuff those heart arteries with more blockage!!!
That's an idea!
I would love it...
Wouldn't you?
You may be right. My uncle had triple bypass and it did the same thing to him. Took him a long time to recover. Time will tell.
So do you, FINALLY . . . family came home just as I read your post! :-)
Hope you are right for his secretary's sake!!
It was an observation based on what the British press infer and what a lot of Britains who basically do not care about politics one bit say. It is shame IMHO because it degrades respect for GWB and America worldwide.
IMHO I much prefer to see someone make the ocassional slip up that a slick media friendly Clinton or Blair type.
Well then his readable handwriting is unreadable!!!
Jimmy Carter ought to be "relegated" permanently to a small squalid hut
I don't think Carter is included because of his major
leftwing yapping and a Castro pal. He is a loose cannon.
Wed. the Navy Hospital Ship Mercy is leaving San Diego
for the disaster area. Already there is the BonHomme Richard Amphibious Strike Group with over 2,000 Marines
from San Diego and the Choppers already helping based here
also.
