BUSH BASH BOOK BURSTS IN TIME FOR INAUGURAL

Christine Todd Whitman, the former New Jersey governor who was President Bush's first administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, has written a book that touts the importance of moderates to the future of the Republican Party and flays Bush and his team for ignoring the country's middle.

Whitman charges on Page 3 that Bush's three-percentage-point margin in the popular vote is the lowest of any incumbent president ever to win reelection, the WASHINGTON POST reports in coming editions, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

IT'S MY PARTY TOO: THE BATTLE FOR THE HEART OF THE GOP AND THE FUTURE OF AMERICA streets during inauguration week, insuring heavy media coverage

"The numbers show that while the president certainly did energize his political base, the red state/blue state map changed barely at all, suggesting that he had missed an opportunity to significantly broaden his support in the most populous areas of the country," Whitman writes. "The Karl Rove strategy to focus so rigorously on the narrow conservative base won the day, but we must ask at what price to governing and at what risk to the future of the party."

Whitman details her many scars and frustrations in dealing with what she calls the "antiregulatory lobbyists and extreme antigovernment ideologues" that she suggests hold too much sway over the Republican party.

This book makes more sense as a "blame for loosing book" rather than a victory book. It makes more sense than a book directed to a party that has won majorities.

It does make her seem to be a 9/10 politician.

Christine Todd Dingbat, the idiot bimbo who had no problem getting her picture taken while humiliating a black man who was pulled over by cops. What a screwball.

Well, if he didn't get any middle of the roaders in this last election, and he STILL got 52% of the vote, does that mean we don't NEED them? ;o)

I think most of the world seems to be shifting left - and those of us on the far right aren't budging!

Bush is more Conservative than most pols - but he is more liberal than I am and probably MANY FReepers.

This border thing is rally pi$$ing me off! and I just don't understand his argument - does he have one?

I really would like to see a FISCAL CONSERVATIVE in the White House and s/he can take a nice big hacksaw to the federal budget.

That would make me happy!

Otay. Although it seemed quite mild to me, actually.

Ya'll are removing posts that even use * and $ and !, etc., now, huh?

I didn't know that .....

With apologies to any Christine Todd Whitman, RINOS or DemoKrauts that were offended.

:^)

Christie is sooo over as far as politics is concerned.

Not sure what kind of business she's starting, but she always finds a way to make money.

She hs the same core principles as J effin Kerry.

I personally know CTW. She is a very engaging individual that does care about people.

Say what you want about her. She put up a great fight against Bradley for the Senate and wasn't a bad Governor. The Jersey RNC should have jumped on the bandwagon and spent more on Schundler, but they gave up, like most Republican pols in Jersey.

When she went to work for Bush, she really wasn't given the ammunition she needed too run a successful department. There already was a policy in place that she was to follow, sort of making her job irrelevant.

Florio was worse, McGreevey was worse and Codey will be worse than Wittman ever was. I know that isn't saying much.

Too bad you couldn't remind her of Ronald Reagan and the 11th commandment he lived by ...

Disunity now only helps Hillary Clinton and the Democrat mob.

The relevance of this book by Whitman (quick review: twaddle from the squish) can be easily measured. Compare its sales to those of Zell Miller's book. His will swamp hers. And that tells you objectively that the current problems are in the lap of the Democrat Party, not the Republicans.

Huh? You have something against Jeb Bush or the Bush's in general?

I must say that I like Dubya a LOT better than his Dad, but Jeb? I'd vote for him in a heartbeat!

Forget that DYNASTY junk, tell me what you have against the Bush's, or Jeb, or whatever .....

"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to...... You would cry too if it happened to youuuuuuuuuuuu..."

(Apologies to Leslie Gore, or Less Gorie as we used to call her when I was a kid growing up near Philly in the 60s)

Todd Whitman. What an embarassment to herself, and to New Jersey, the state which celebrates it's butt luvin Governor.

I take issue with your statements. I believe the other poster was referencing Whitmans' choice of statistics. Instead of the "glass half full" attitude, Whitman chose the "glass half empty". That is sour grapes. And just having more people in the country doesn't insure voters will actually vote. President Bush faced the most organized opposition to reelection in history and STILL won. He had the main stream media making up stories, foreign countries and leaders meddling in our election, anti Bush movies, and books, Billionaire George Soros and his slimy left wing 527's, and Dan Rather and CBS news touting false documents in a bid to undermine the President. Need I continue?? This was totally unprecedented. Still the President won. And he did so by winning 31 States, and 2542 Counties vs. only 19 States and 611 Counties for sKerry. His win, when taken in context of the above, was breathtaking. But still, Ms. Whitman bemoans the accomplishment. Sour grapes, Ms. Whitman. Shame on you!!
