Jesse Jackson: Bush Would Have Left Jesus Homeless

President Bush has implemented economic policies that resemble those of the Roman Empire, which forced the baby Jesus into homelessness on the night of his birth, former civil rights leader Rev. Jesse Jackson said in a pre-Christmas rant late Thursday.
"In the last [Bush] budget, we cut housing again, and that was Jesus' dilemma. In Bethlehem, his family ended up homeless," Jackson told MSNBC's Campbell Brown.
"Rome was a wealthy country that left Jesus and Mary and Joseph, in a sense, homeless," he complained. "He was born an at-risk baby."
The GOP bashing Democrat said that while Bush's reelection campaign had been successful in "marketing the language of religious values," the Bush White House isn't practicing what it preaches.
Jackson charged that under Bush's policies, the U.S. "appears to be indifferent toward the poor as we seek tax cuts and no-bid contracts for the wealthy; as we engage in wars of choice - driving our nation into isolation."
"Today we are celebrating the wealthy and war, not the poor and peace," he contended, while urging the Bush administration to "restore the Lyndon Baines Johnson vision where we wipe out poverty - not wipe out the poor."

I don't think His Bar Mitzvah is mentioned and Matthew records that they did go back to Nazareth at some point.
When He was twelve He did go to the Temple but that would have been in Jerusalem.
I know I wouldn't have wanted to travel with a baby then unless absolutely necessary.

Jesus was not homeless. There might not been a room in the inn, but His parents lived in Nazareth. They were traveling because an imperial government demanded they travel as a prelude to increased taxation.

In Bethlehem, his family ended up homeless," Jackson told MSNBC's Campbell Brown.************
Since when is the inability to find a hotel room while traveling the same as being homeless? Jackson is doing his usual manipulation here.

No, It is not mentioned anywheres. I mean It was not called that then, but the bible does not have any mention of a party or anything like they do at these things.
Yea, they were in Jerusalem because it was the Feast of the Tabernacles and Joseph and Mary went every year. Jesus went there are put all the teachers to shame LOLOL.

I added some keywords; maybe someone knowledgeable will turn up. The Gospels certainly aren't detailed on this!

Jesus had his (what is today called a Bar Mitzvah) at the age of 12 because he was considered to be illegitimate. Whoa there! Getting knocked up after the betrothal but before the wedding was scandalous (it cast aspirations on the bride and groom's ability to control themselves) but in no way did it make the child illegitimate. They were already legally bound.

If you've got a text that suggests Jesus was believed by His contemporaries to be an illegitimate son, please post it!
This was inferred from various biblical references and generally accepted in the church that I grew up attending (United Methodist).
Believe me. I am not trying to defame Jesus, but others have, both then and now.
To find the appropriate versus, I will have to use esword. My computer's screwed up right now and it may require a full reinstall to get esword working again. It could be a couple weeks, but when I find it, I will post it. I don't care whether I'm proven right or wrong. The word of God is more important than my foolish pride.

Only reason Jesus was born in a stable in unsanitary conditions without a comfortable roof over his head and his poor mother had to ride over 60 miles on the back of a donkey when she was 9 months pregnant and endangered her life and welfare
was because of a tax increase.

Excellent point. The Revvveerrrrund is more about histrionics than history.

It's been an ongoing discussion. You'll have to read the related posts.
Again, I'm not trying to defame Jesus. Just trying to get to the truth of the matter.

Don't worry about it, unless it occurs to you some time when your computer is functional! It was just an interpretation that I've never heard, and I wondered what the Biblical basis is. I always like to learn something new :-).
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and welcome to FR!

Shows you how much time Jessie spends reading his Bible, NONE....and Jesse is pandering to those who also don't read the Bible and who will take whatever he says as gospel! His only purpose for making such outrageous things as this is to whup up hatred for the President! He is EVIL!

And the truth of the matter is that who ever taught you that was quite wrong.
There is no scripture to back it up and scripture that says the opposite.

Note to Jesse: You are an idiot. The feds spend almost $8,000 per year per capita. What, in your feeble mind, is "enough"? By the way, Jesus was not "homeless," as you have asserted. Did they live in Bethlehem? You saying that Jesus was homeless is like you saying I am homeless whenever I have to rent a hotel. But what can we expect? Liberals have a difficult time dealing with reality.

Real nice, especially from a person who's used Jesus's name to make millions of dollars while not following a single teaching of Jesus.

Thank you, but now my curiosity is peaked. I've got to find out for sure. God forgives us our mistakes made in ignorance, and truly, he would forgive us anything that we asked of him. Still, I would rather not misrepresent his word; so I must find out.
I find anything proving or disproving it, I'll let you know.
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. Thanks for the warm welcome.

I'll look forward to learning whatever you find out ... and you shouldn't feel bad about it! I've never bought the idea that God is going to ZOT us if we misunderstand something!
