The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON - A terrorist attack on a tanker loaded with liquefied natural gas could cause massive damage a third of a mile away and could send a vapor cloud billowing more than 1.5 miles, government scientists say.

With the the nation clamoring for more natural gas, policy-makers are trying to figure out how to safely import large quantities of liquefied natural gas or LNG.

Brit captured in Iraq an Al Muhajiroun member

A British Muslim arrested in Iraq for running guns to insurgents has ties to an Islamic extremist group with agents operating in the New York City borough of Queens, WorldNetDaily has learned.



The U.S. said this week it is holding Mobeen Muneef, 25, a London native captured by a U.S. Marines patrol unit Dec. 7 in Ramadi, one of the main centers for the insurgency against the U.S.-backed Iraqi government.


Muneef reportedly was detained after being caught passing weapons to insurgents and was in possession of an Iraqi ID card he allegedly admitted was fake. He was carrying an Iraqi pistol and four AK-47s, according to a report.


Sources told WND that Muneef attended several meetings for the UK- based Al-Muhajiroun, a worldwide Islamic fundamentalist group led by London cleric Sheik Omar Bakri Muhammad, who maintains operatives in Pakistan and in Queens.


The group, under intense pressure from the British authorities, said it disbanded in October, but security sources say Al-Muhajiroun leaders still are active in London and the U.S.


Al-Muhajiroun has in the past been suspected of facilitating transportation of British Muslims to fight U.S. troops overseas.


Last April, the U.S. arrested Al- Muhajiroun member Mohammed Junaid Babar, who returned to New York from Pakistan after claiming to have fought alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan. Babar admitted to being a sleeper agent for al-Qaida, aiding in a plot to blow up discos, restaurants and train stations in London.

I don't know if this has been posted here because I've been offline a bit, but Drudge has it that the US is considering creating specific assassination squads for Iraq, led mostly by US SpecOps folks the fighters would be mostly Kurds. I suspect, however, that for the tightest ops or the high priroity targets, it's going to our guys pulling triggers first.

I wonder if this new and more dangerous escalation might trigger a similar response from OBL and the boys here on home soil?

Thats an interesting question, Exsoldier. The best answer I can give is it would revolve around two variables:

1- whether they can come up with the manpower to do it here

Whether they can infiltrate people to do it from outside

Its a definite possibility

Assassination squads are already expected here in US. There may be a vengence factor if assassination squads there gain significant success, but the vengence factor may be more local as here would be considered a stratigic level by AQ.

At this juncture, after looking at the border stats for the last ten years, I think it's a foregone conclusion. I'm just wondering if our actions in forming hit squads will trigger the cells here.

The terrorists of all stripes and known by various name would/will attack us anytiime, anywhere, by any means at the drop of hat and/or patiently waiting a "go" signal if they have the opportunity to and their weapon of choice is available to them.

I suspect, however, that for the tightest ops or the high priroity targets, it's going to our guys pulling triggers first.

It's certainly a possibility, but even if we don't take prompt action to eliminate those sniping at our troops, the terrorists have promised ever increasing and spectacular attacks against coalition troops prior to the elections, especially American. So far, they've been keeping their word. It can't hurt if they understand we mean business. Anything that keeps troop morale up and casualties down will work for me.

I wish our government would use bounty hunters to bring in ME foreigners evading their past due immigration hearings. It might save us some lives, heartaches and headaches down the road.
