Obama is on their cover and Alter is saying that Newsweek is trying to get a tradition started for who will be making news in the coming year.

Huh? A junior senator for the minority party? What's Obama gonna' do--leap tall bldgs. in a single bound?

Call me stupid, but I think that Dale Earnhart, Jr. would have been a safer bet than Obama as to who's going to make news in the coming year. But then again, I 'spect that Newsweak has plans to manufacture Obama news...

Jonathan Alter (Newsweek) is on by phone with the C-SPAN host. Obama is on their cover and Alter is saying that Newsweek is trying to get a tradition started for who will be making news in the coming year.

Bobby Jindal would have been a far better choice.

I hate to you folks tell this, but Barak Obama is going nowhere fast. First of all, he is Black. Second, as it stands right now, Blacks have absolutely no political power in Washington, DC. They threw what political power they had right out the window by voting in lock-step for the Democrat party which has kept them in economic and political slavery for the last fifty years. Third, Black politcal power is waning very fast as Hispanics have overtaken them as the largest minority group in the USA. And...Hispanics and Asians will outpace Blacks for years to come in every measurable parameter of successs that counts.

Hispanics and Asians know how to use their political power and have quickly diversified their political loyalties to gain maximum political leverage. Fourth "Black" organizations such as the Congressional Black Caucus and NAACP are nothing more than social meeting clubs. There is no one of real influence for them to talk to. They have mocked President Bush. Only an idiot would do that!!!

Blacks have failed miserably to assimilate themselves into the general American society, perferring to play the race card, which does not work any longer. Their current leaders have failed them, the Democrat Party has failed them, and most of all, they have failed themselves. A big reality check is what's needed. Jesse Jackson, John Conyers, etc. ain't helping matters by making butt heads out of themselves in Ohio. Let's face it: Being Black, liberal and Democrat ain't cool and it certainly ain't where it's at!!!

For sharpening the debate until the choices bled, for reframing reality to match his design, for gambling his fortunes—and ours—on his faith in the power of leadership, George W. Bush is TIME's 2004 Person of the Year

You forgot the many, many millions being spent by various Democratic 527 groups all for naught.

I think you're absolutely correct.

A representative of TIME is about to appear on F&F to explain their choice of GWB as Man of the Year. Hopefully he'll (or she) give a hint of their approach to this topic.

His picture with the white hat brings to mind that he has a pouch of "red man chew" and getting ready to put in a big "Chaw"!

Hispanics and Asians know how to use their political power and have quickly diversified their political loyalties to gain maximum political leverage.

And the thing that really scares the Democrats is the fact that 1) Hispanics are heavily devout Catholic and 2) Asian moral values frequently clash with those of the Democrats. Supporting things like abortion on demand and gay marriages don't sit well with these groups in the long run.

I really do think Obama will be a far cry better than the other Senator from Illinois

I could be wrong but I believe Obama will put some distance between himself and the Congressional Black Caucus. At least I hope he does.

I never would have believed it. He was the right choice. Has anyone checked the reaction over at DU?

Compared to Moseley-Braun, my toe-nail would make a better Senator.

Just as I thought those idiots are pointing to the fact that Hitler and Stalin were also named person's of the year. I'm glad to see some of them consider Stalin to have been a bad person.

Time should have used the picture of him landing on the aircraft carrier to really send the DUmmies off the deep end. I wonder how many Dems are dreading the arrival of their Time issue?
