SKIDMORE, Mo. -- A 23-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant was killed Thursday and the fetus was taken from her body, authorities said.
Stinnett home in Skidmore, Mo.
Sheriff's deputies were investigating the afternoon killing of the woman and they were searching for the baby, who they believed could have survived.
Nodaway County Sheriff Bill Espey said, "Someone was wanting a baby awful bad."
The sheriff issued an Amber Alert for the missing fetus. Police are searching for an 8-month-old white, female fetus. It also suggested that things to look for in the case included "bloody clothing or towels, possible health issues with the fetus and a freshly cut umbilical cord."
Bobbi Jo Stinnett was killed around 3 p.m. Central, and "the unborn child was removed from her body by the person or persons who committed the crime."
Stinett was found inside her home by her mother, who called police at 3:38 p.m., authorities said. Paramedics tried to revive her; she was later pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Mo.
They need to check her emails and cell phone records pronto - there is no indication in her webpages that she was pregnant, or any personal information beyond that about her puppies (rat terriers). Whoever it was who killed her and kidnapped her baby, they had this planned. You don't just perform an maneuver like that without having thought about it first...
I am praying for this little baby - there must be someone who will pray with me.
I'm just curious, why, oh why, is it that Police are seeking a fetus taken from it's mother's body? Surely at 8 months, whether or not he/she survived the crude c-section (what kind of animal does this??), he/she is a baby, a person.
"Skidmore was famous a few years ago for a bully who met an untimely end."
You're correct. Skidmore is about 50 miles from where I live. It's very small (a few hundred people) - hard to imagine something like this happening around here. Sounds like a nice family, though, and I don't think they suspect the husband at this time.
But there must be.
Um, once it's out of the body, its a BABY, not a fetus.
Once it's CONCIEVED it is a baby.
If they want to be PC,let em.I don't buy into that crap.
Your responsible comment is appreciated. I checked an AOL chat room on this topic - the comments were disgusting....and sadly some Freepers were no better.
Regarding her and her husband's website - isn't it good practice not to give out personal details? I expect they limited information to the puppies they were selling.
Again, thanks for your thoughtful insight.
It is evil. May God watch over this poor little baby. Without proper medical care she may not survive.
I've never encountered anyone expecting a baby who posted a copy of their ultrasound and said "here's a picture of my fetus."
Did they know it was a girl baby? I had not seen or heard that.
Sorry - it was in the article - must have read it too quickly.
an 8-month-old white, female fetus.
Police Think Baby Survived Being Cut From Womb Of Slain Mother
Amber Alert Issued For Missing Female Baby

SKIDMORE, Mo. -- Authorities looking for an infant cut from the womb of its mother expanded their search outside of Missouri on Friday as they maintained hope the baby might still be alive.
The search for the baby started after a 23-year-old woman who was eight months pregnant was killed Thursday and the fetus was taken from her body, authorities said.
Sheriff's deputies were investigating the afternoon killing of Bobbie Jo Stinnett and they were searching for the baby, who they believe could have survived.
"The doctors who examined Bobbie Jo gave us information indicating we probably would have a live child if we could find it," Nodaway County Sheriff Ben Espey said Friday. "The child would be in danger because of being one month premature."
"Someone was wanting a baby awful bad," Espey said earlier.
The sheriff issued an Amber Alert for the missing baby. Police are searching for a white, female baby. The report also suggested that things to look for in the case included "bloody clothing or towels, possible health issues with the fetus and a freshly cut umbilical cord."
This is true...the bully episode occurred around mid-70s and the guy's death could never be tied to any local...although there were at least 30 people who wanted to kill him, and they admitted so on TV. People in this town...don't fear very much. I'd be guessing that this is someone within 20 miles of the town, and probably lives out in the woods a bit. My guess is that they aren't very clear-headed (this would cut out 99 percent of the local population).

R.I.P.
Remember the USAF Troops wife that had her baby taken in the same manner up in Tijeras Canyon in 86-87 ??. The lady that did it was also a USAF spouse and had stalked this lady an made friends with her and pretended to be pregnant also and even sat at the OBgyn clinic at the base hospital at KAFB. My Wife was OSI at the time and the murderer took the lady up in the canyon down a dry river bed and cut the baby from the mother with a Volkswagon ignition key. The lady then went down to the ford dealer at lomas and wyoming ? ...and tried to tell em she just had a baby. Of course the doctors wanted to examin her, the real pregant lady was missing and ............
Sad part was the lady in the dry river bed woke up from her head injury, tried to walk and crawl to the S14 highway and bled to death before she got to help.
Horrific........
If such was repeated here I suspect such trash took this life as they wanted the child. Suggested points to look at are those who knew the lady at a gym or the doctors office etc where the murder victim was a regular. Someone she knew or didn't fear as a stranger IMO if the door wasn't kicked in etc etc .......
Maybe it's just me, but that wouldn't have occurred to me in a million years.
There is a very whacko woman at the root of this.
Yes, it is clever now that I think of it, LOL But No I did it on accident, darn! Just a mispell, but a great one!
You two are watchin waaaaay too much TV.
Makes me believe that the murderer/kidnapper(s) are not familiar with the local history. The book "In Broad Daylight" details the life, times, and violent demise of Ken McElroy, and is a good, quick read.
Actually Mr. Melbell cancelled our television service a while ago...I'm just wierd...can't blame tv for that! ;)
