Can't say as I blame the mom. I'd give her a slap on the wrist and give the bully weeks of community service. I find it sad that so many children are brutalized, and so few parents do anything about it.

What Weezel said in #49 was exactly what happened. I saw the whole tape on tv last night.

The worst part of it was when the mother's daughter and friend go back to the back of the bus to administer a beating, the school bus driver just stands there watching.

The bus driver THEN gets off the bus and tells the mother her daughter is in a fight (I'm assuming the bus driver is rolling up to the bus stop as the fight breaks out).

Mom then gets on the bus, watches for a sec, then proceeds to pummel the girl herself.

I am not sure the problem here, but either I am not making myself clear, or you are having difficulty understanding me. Let me make it clear and specific:

The woman deserves to be punished.

I think 12 months in jail and having her kids taken away is excessive (based on the evidence that I had read at the time of the post).

I am willing to withold judgement, until I have heard ALL the evidence.

The way the article is written (besides very poorly) gives no indication of any of that. Nor does it address the color of the girls involved. From what you ans Weezil have said this now sounds like a hate crime (except of course only whites are guilty of that).

My comments were the result of a knee-jerk, poorly thought out response to the feeling that if my kid were getting beat up by another kid, I would come to the aid of my kid. I don't know that I would beat the other kid up...but would try to stop the fight and protect my kid from further attack. If the other kid attacked me, however, I wouldn't just stand there and take it.

If I was the dad of the kid you beat - you'd be getting 10 times as worse as you deliver, and since these days I'd be sued for it - I'll make sure I get my money's worth.

And you'd probably be justified in doing so, unless your kid was in the wrong attacking my kid or anyone else.

This I can understand and have no problem. The image I had of the last post is a 200 lb man slugging away at a 110lb 12 year old(and the reason for my rather harsh reaction).
