My comments were the result of a knee-jerk, poorly thought out response to the feeling that if my kid were getting beat up by another kid, I would come to the aid of my kid. I don't know that I would beat the other kid up...but would try to stop the fight and protect my kid from further attack. If the other kid attacked me, however, I wouldn't just stand there and take it.

This I can understand and have no problem. The image I had of the last post is a 200 lb man slugging away at a 110lb 12 year old(and the reason for my rather harsh reaction).
