LAKE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Lake County mom convicted of simple assault after a school bus camera caught her beating a student who had gotten into a fight with her daughter didn't show up for her sentencing Tuesday.

The video, which was recorded in October, shows three girls throwing punches at the back of a school bus as a woman in a white shirt, Rita Gooden, walks back. The camera shows Gooden push her daughter out of the way, then strike another girl, Cassandra Ross. Ross appears to be pinned to a back seat out of view of the camera as the apparent beating continues.Gooden walks off the bus in full view of the camera shouting, "One more time."Ross then walks up to the front of the bus and can be heard telling the driver, "I'm bleeding because of her. Look what she (expletive) did to me."Ross's mother was furious Gooden failed to show up for court."This woman's being charged with simple assault. There's nothing simple about it. She tried to kill my child," she said.Gooden faces up to a year behind bars.

Ha! Little bitch wanted fight and then was crying because she was bleeding. "I didn't getting hit in face would hurt! Wah! Wah!"
Give me a friggin break! I think that is what is lacking these days. People need to confront these little punks and punkettes and had them an ass beating from time to time.
When I was a kid, if we were screwing up in the neighborhood, we were fair game to any neighbor lady to grab us by the ear, swat us on the ass and drag us (by said ear) to our parents who would then dole out the appropriate punishment. Woe on to us if we got mouth with any of the neighbor ladies, also.

I would do the same if I found some kid beating up on my kid... Then get some professional help. Mrs. Gooden looks to be approaching 200 lbs. and as an adult has no business getting into a fight with a teenager. Her role was to STOP the fight, not engage in it.
Gooden faces up to a year behind bars. This hardly seems enough. Hopefully, the state will look at Gooden's ability as a mother and ponder removing her kids from her influence.
