Please help with this one.
Damn, just damn. Specialist David Mahlenbrock was killed by an IED on December 3rd in Kirkuk, Iraq.
I received this email via Soldier's Angels. It's from David's Squad in Bravo, 65th Engineers and they are forwarding a request from David. It appears that David had a special letter sent to his squad in the event of his death. Hold on to your seats, folks:

He was very interested.
I will make sure to listen to see if they played the song.
I will be calling KIX106 (WGKK) in Memphis
Request Line: (901) 535-9106
Have any others from the Memphis area already call them?
Did a Google on this young man's name. The story, with and without the request, is being widely covered, particularly in the New Jersey / Philadelphia area.
I have not read the whole thread yet, but has anyone tried contacting Toby Keith?
ping for later
Done, KTPI in the Antelope Valley has rec'd my request, although I'm not a big country fan. Easy and honorable request to make.
RIP young man, you've earned it, may the good Lord watch over your family.
Note - forwarded via email to Country Music Television (CMT.COM).
Also, from the news stories about this, one of the groups helping to promote this, Soldiers' Angels, is trying to get Toby Keith to sing at the funeral.
Since I work right here, I'm gonna try to take an early lunch and slip away from work tomorrow to attend this young man's funeral.
Every one of these I've ever attended have just ripped my heart out.
The saddest thing for a Soldier is hearing Taps being played for another Soldier - but it's sobering and serves to reinforce the profound impact these brave warriors have on our lives back here.
We should all be glad we have troops who "get it" and are willing to put it all on the line so that we can go right on being whatever kind of American we choose.
It's just too bad we have so many in this country making such horribly selfish choices about the kind of "American" they choose to be.
This American Soldier will proudly represent Free Republic as Specialist David Mahlenbrock is laid to rest in our hallowed ground of Arlington National Cemetary.
Done.

That is one AWESOME song and video! I get teary everytime I hear that song!
My father died April 18th just 6 weeks short of his 90th birthday. I DOES still hurt and it ALWAYS will. May his soul rest in peace and may your memories of him eventually bring a smile along with that forever little tear. God bless.
