NBC Defends Couric's Anti-Christian Rant by Gary Schneeberger, editor
Network refuses to apologize for the "Today" host's 1998 intimation that groups like Focus on the Family incited the murder of Matthew Shepard.
NBC News has refused to apologize to Christians maligned by "Today" show host Katie Couric's insinuation that biblical teachings on homosexuality in part prompted the 1998 murder of gay teenager Matthew Shepard.
In a Dec. 8 letter to Focus on the Family, a network executive rejected the ministry's call for an apology, made in light of a recent news report on ABC's "20/20" that debunked the longstanding notion that the attack on Shepard was a homophobic "hate crime."

I wonder if Katie Curic's dad ever gave her a swat on the rear for acting up. She appears to me as the most undisiplined, bratty little girl I have ever seen.
I'm taking the liberty of pinging this to the Today Show ping list.
No accountablility at NBC? I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
What did 20/20 say was the motivator?
I keep hearing of how "popular" the Today show is with Katie Couric.
When I think of the Today show I think of the huge audience they have alienated by being so stridently hatefilled against traditional Americans.
Katie does herself, her show and her network no favors with her anti Christian bent.
It's our job to make sure people are aware of statements like this.
Bratty kid that grew up into a bratty adult that acts like a kid.
in the bizzaro world of liberalism, its ok to be anti-christian. not anti-gay.
you dont actually expect liberals to live by the standarad they set forth for others now do you???
Why do you say she grew up? So far as I can see she's still in the anal phase.
"It's our job to make sure people are aware of statements like this."
People like the Advertisers of the program.
And if the advertisers don't change, we gotta boycott their products and bring 'em to their knees. Fiscally, if not morally. Viva Mervyn's letting the Salvation Army back on their lots--we just won one battle. (other thread of today)
I seem to recall that it was drugs (meth in this case). Based on interviews with the killers and the court case itself.
She must be especially upset at the recent news Shephard wasn't killed because he was gay - but from a drug deal gone bad. I feel for his family that he was murdered, but he has become a poster child for hate crimes for all the wrong reasons.
If you'd like to weigh in to Couric and NBC News President Neal Shapiro about the latest developments in this case, you can find contact information, including an easy-to-use e-mail form, in the CitizenLink Action Center. Click here to reach Couric, and here to reach Shapiro.

Looks like Katie needs another colonoscopy.
Wow. Who'd of thunk it?
She wants acceptance by the "art & croissent" croud. A la rush!
I have always found Katie Couric obnoxious, overbearing and totally full of herself.
Her late husband was a nice guy and I felt sympathy for her when he died, but she has not earned my respect, she is still a pompous, hateful little spit.
What are her educational credentials? She appears to have no intellectual depth or common sense.
