In the 15-plus years we've been residents in Summit County, we've never seen such a blatant exhibition of disrespect and insensitivity as the "cartoon" you chose to publish on Dec. 2.
The musical title of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" coupled with an illustration of flag-draped coffins was appalling given the recent loss to this community of Lance Cpl. Justin Ellsworth. Shame on you.
Can you imagine if something like this had appeared in American newspapers in December 1944 ... while the Battle of the Bulge was underway? The liberals in the media (this generation) just don't grasp what's at stake ... but cowards rarely do.
Now I'm hearing it while my beloved Marine son-in-law is serving in Iraq, while my daughter and their four children are on Okinawa awaiting his safe return.
This cartoon is despicable.

There is only one thing that conservatives can do. We can write letters to the editor and all, but we need to cancel subscriptions and refuse to buy these papers. Believe me, problems are brewing with papers like the LA Times and NY Times. They have inflated their circulation numbers and its coming back to bite them. They're going to have to pay back advertisers big time. As they continue to lose market share, they will either get the message OR they will lose money, readership AND influence.
We canceled our newspaper 2 mo. ago and are taking another city's paper. We wrote a detailed letter in the cancelation and was contacted by two people that couldn't talk us out of it. I'm sure that cartoon was in the paper we no longer take. I'm glad I missed it or else I'd probably be down there with a sign and bullhorn in my hand protesting.

This cartoon is another reason why the liberals, progressives and anarchists will be pushed further to the left and pushed right off the Political map.
