College's Decision to Allow Men Irks Women

NEW YORK — A decision by Wells College (search), which has been all-women since 1868, to begin admitting male students in order to boost enrollment has riled female students.
Many students are threatening to leave the upstate New York college, but two have moved beyond threats and filed a lawsuit that says the decision to enroll men constitutes a breach of contract and fraud.

I get a kick out of this hypocricy. What happened to equl protection. The lie is out. Equal protection for me but not for you is the mantra. The sad thing is they probably are really ignorant about it. All those all-male schools had to admit women. Its just funny.

It's okay for women to sue their way into male only country clubs or colleges such as VMI. But when men want to attend an all female institution, it's another story. Liberalism...open-mindedness...hah!

I guess there's a big effort to integrate historically black colleges and bring their numbers in line with the general population. At least I think so. Can't seem to find the NYT coverage of it, though.

I highly doubt that being admitted to this university involved any kind of "contract" guaranteeing the students that the university would remain women-only, but if it did, then they may have a case.

I did this in Denver in 1985 when women were filing suit against men's gyms to get in. So, we went to an all female gym and made them sign us up.

That being said, I expect the collective IQ of the college student body to double in a matter of months.
