Angels photographed over nation's capital?

Hanukkah mystery: Eerie blue images caught on camera at menorah lighting WASHINGTON – Was it a bird? Was it a plane? Was it a sign from heaven?

That's what Carrie Devorah wants to know after she inadvertently photographed some mysterious blue light images hovering heavenward while taking pictures of the lighting of the Chabad menorah on the first night of Hanukkah last night on the Ellipse in the nation's capital.

Mysterious blue images captured during menorah lighting in Washington, D.C.

"I took this shot as I was walking to get into place," she said. "For those of you who know D.C., you will recognize the two red lights to the left as being from the Washington Monument. And you will know there is no building that tall to the right of the menorah where the two blue images are."

Are they lens refractions? Are they planes from National Airport? Devorah isn't sure.

It's all part of the Christian conspiracy, don't you know. All cameras made since Bush's election have been required to project a cross onto the image, so that the owner can be more easily converted from heathenism.

Oops. My bad. Got confused and thought this was democraticunderground.com. Sorry.

why would christian angels (blue crosses) be at a menorah lighting ?

Christians don't hold a monopoly on Angels. They are mentioned in the Old Testament more than a few times.

Genesis 3:22-24 tells us that Adam and Eve were almost like God and the Angels.

I was fascinated by the stage light silhouetting the menorah," the photographer explained. "So I walked as close as I could – shot with my wide angle lens. ... I noticed the blue images when I returned home."

I am glad she finds comfort in the mystery images, there's no harm in that.... But I'd like to think if I was in the actual presence of angels, I would see them in real time, not just see them as fuzzy artifacts in a picture later.... I'd think angels would be fairly impressive and hard to ignore, according to some shepherds I heard tell of them. .

As long as there are lenses in cameras (which, how could there not be right?) so called "photographic evidence" of supernatural phenomena will always be explained as "refraction of light from the lens".

And there's really no way to debunk something like that, at least not that I can see. All of us who've played with a magnifying glass as a kid knows how oddly light can be refracted and reflected in a lens, with seemingly no real rule (no intuitive rule that is) governing their behavior.

So to chase after (and offer as proof) "photographs of angels, ghosts, whatever" is pointless. Especially if no one at the actual event saw the "angel" with their own eyes?

One or more of the lights on the menorrah caused the lens refraction. I think we've all seen reflections like these on photos we've taken when facing a camera into the sun or other light source. But as another poster said, it's a matter of faith for the woman involved, and apparently it lifted her spirits. God can use a lens refraction to achieve His purposes, that's what faith is all about.

Gotta ask, why would Christian angels (blue crosses) be at a menorah lighting ?

Revelation 1:

12 Then I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands,

13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band.

14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire;

15 His feet were like fine brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters;

16 He had in His right hand seven stars, out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance was like the sun shining in its strength.

17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last.

18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

19 Write[i] the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this.

20 The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands which you saw are the seven churches.

.... I am not saying these are angels, and seriously doubt that they are, but there is a history of Jesus being mentioned along with the candlesticks (which I believe to be a menorah), and angels.

While I do believe in some photos like this being genuine, this clearly appears to be some sort of lens issue.

Still a cool image though.

I agree, the larger is the mother and the smaller is the daughter. IMO

The photographer seems to have seen the objects before taking the photo (unless she only saw it through the viewfinder or lens).

Let me make myself clear; the mother would be the bright white lights at the lower left and center of the image and the blue lights the daughter images.

Christian angels are blue crosses? I thought they were like, humans with wings? Whats the difference between Christian angels and Jewish angels? They are both from the old testament, seems to me they would be the same?
