The three residents of a St. Croix Falls, Wis., home where nearly 400 cats were removed by authorities last month have each been charged with three misdemeanors.
Dorothy Weinhardt, 86, her daughter, Jean Bloomquist, 47, and son-in-law, Wayne Bloomquist, 52, were charged Thursday with mistreating animals and providing inadequate sanitary conditions and ventilation at their house at 209 S. River St.
According to the criminal complaint, the animal mistreatment count stems from the discovery by health and public safety investigators of a live adult cat and kitten that were placed on the second floor of the house in a small plastic container that was duct-taped shut, denying them access to air or water. It was not known how long the cats had been in the container.

Sounds like a case for John Edwards...
Aww, those poor cats. I am a cat lover and it makes me sick to hear about anyone mistreating a cat.
What is it with my fellow Wisconsinites? I tell ya, some days I feel like the only SANE one left in the entire state!
Nope. No being mean to children or domesticated animals! Kill all the wild varmints ya want with your legally owned weaponry, but hurting children and domestic critters doesn't fly with me. :(
Not sure Edwards is the man for this job, though. Wasn't very impressed with his resume altogether...
Kitty ping!
For a second I thought it was the cats that were charged with the misdemeanors!
...times 400! Thanks!

Kitty Ping List alert!
[Freepmail me to get on or off the Kitty Ping List.]
100 dead cats in the house?? And it sounds liek they killed them- I hope they get no mercy. I have three cats and I can't imagine harming one of them, much less torturing them to death. Poor babies.
My little one is sitting in my lap Freeping with me as usual tonight. She climbed up on the keyboard 0oi122222222222222222222222222222222 ` again. She likes to wqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqgofterth` go after the blinking line that shows where you are typing. That puts her back feet on the keys. I knew you would understand.....
Just ordered these for when the nieces & nephews want to wrestle ol' Uncle Marty this Christmas. We gonna do it right. < |:)~
Its nice to see that somebody still respects the classics.
bttt
I underszzzzzzzzzzzztttppppppkkllllllllllzxxxxxxzz - stand.
Sounds to me like they should only charge the daughter and son-in-law. And while the cops are at it, they should look into whether or not those two were committing elder abuse.
....These cats need a good attorney.....
They're in trouble then, there are no good attorneys.
The best they can hope for is a competant lawyer.
I suppose I should stop hijacking this cat thread.
